My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opie came to the rescue after being found as a stray. He wandered onto a lady's property. After attempts to locate his owner, without success, he is now looking for his new forever home. Opie is a very active little boy and is an escape artist. We are sure that is how he found himself in rescue. He will need to be leash walked and/or have a very secure yard with supervision. Left to his own devises, he will look for weaknesses, which could lead to negative consequences for him. Opie just doesn't understand how dangerous the big outside world can be. He walks well on a leash and appears to be fully crate trained and possibly housebroken. He is guesstimated to be about 9 months old so he is still very young and mischievous. Opie seems to do well with other dogs and would probably be fine with a cat as most are probably as big as he is. We don't have any cats so we can't say for certain but we feel with proper introductions, he would be fine. He should also do well with older kids who respect his space since he is a little guy. He has not shown any signs of being nippy but always good to err on the side of caution. Opie is a very sweet, friendly boy who just sees the world as his oyster! He will make a fun companion for anyone with a like mind!
Opie saw the vet on 9/19/24 and was found to have some patchy hairloss/skin infection and vet suspects demodex. He also had earmites. He has started on antibiotics for his skin and was given a Simparica Trio for heartworm prevention and flea control but which will also treat demodex and earmites. He also tested negative on his heartworm test and was positive on his fecal for hookworms so we have given him a Drontal to treat the hooks. He may need a follow up in 3 weeks. Opie weighed 11..1 pounds as of 9/19/24. We are awaiting the vet's microchip order to come in next week so we can chip him but once he gets that done,he can go home.
If interested in giving Opie his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Opie's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Opie based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you
