Meet Siren, an adorable "Chi-weenie" (a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who was surrendered to the shelter after her elderly owner could no longer care for her. She is a darling (seriously, she's great) 6-year-old girl who weighs less than 12 pounds.
Siren will be quiet and observant the first week she spends with you, but then her personality kicks in. She likes having a playmate around her size - she has lived in foster with medium/larger dogs but she is definitely not a fan of bigger in-your-face dogs. Her last owner said she was attacked by a big dog a few years ago, so that might be the issue.
Siren likes toys, particularly soft squeaky ones, and she plays them very nicely - just gives them a good shake but doesn’t try to destuff them, and she loves having a fenced backyard. She eats her meals in a big crate because she's a bit of a pig and will start cleaning other bowls before the dogs have finished. She's okay with the cat - she tries to chase the one in her foster home, but when he turns to face her, she cries like she's been assaulted. Let's say she is good with dog-savvy cats.
Siren isn't destructive (we leave her out with the others when we are gone), and she prefers sleeping in the human bed if given the choice. She seems to like to hang out in the crate during the day in the same room you’re in. Siren was great over the holidays when she met people of all ages - she loved everyone, big & small!
Siren is also housebroken and can use pee pads if necessary. She also walks nicely on a leash. All in all, she's a pretty much perfect little gal in a neat little package!
If you are interested in adopting Siren, please complete an adoption application at www.northstarpets.org and be sure to ask for SIREN TX! Her adoption fee is $425.
