Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Kanela was brought to South LA Shelter to be surrendered. Because the shelter was at capacity, her guardian was asked to schedule a surrender appointment when a kennel opened up. Instead of following these instructions, her guardian tied her to a fence around the corner and fled.
Fortunately, we were able to rescue Kanela on November 6th, the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. Kanela is 11 years old, weighs 54 lbs., and is very sweet. Sadly, she has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Fortunately, just days after Kanela became a Frosted Face, she was chosen by a wonderful foster family to live in their home. After her cruel abandonment and diagnosis, we are so happy Kanela is receiving extra love and care in the comforts of a home.
Her Foster Mom shares:
"Kanela has now fully integrated into our pack. She picked her foster dad as her person and will lay on his chest and stare into his eyes for long periods of time. It is lovely to see this interaction!
Kanela's fur sparkles in the sunlight it looks like there are literal threads of gold in her fur. It is beautiful. She can take the edge of a blanket and roll herself up like a burrito....adorable!!
Kanela is getting all the cuddles and love. She sleeps in a bed with a person every night. She gets cooked meals for breakfast and dinner and she gets several daily walks. We are committed to making up for the past. She is treated like a princess.
Last is the medical. The lung cancer moved quicker than we expected, and we were shocked by the change in just 4 weeks. However, she was put on steroids and she now has a really good quality of life.
Kanela seems comfortable and is very engaged. It is like she is a new dog. We love her so much!"
