Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Tigger! I used to roam the streets of Texas without a home or anyone to love me. Life was scary, especially when I ended up in the shelter. But then, I made my way to Illinois, and my whole world changed.
At first, I didn’t trust anyone—it was all so new and overwhelming. But with lots of patience and kindness from my foster family, I learned to trust again. Even the kids in the house have earned my love! Now, I’m the most loyal companion you could ever ask for, as long as you treat me with love, respect, and patience.
I’m 50lbs- but still need to add a few pounds. I just finished my heartworm treatments so I'm a healthy boy finally. I'm playful and full of energy, but I also know how to chill. I’m happiest snuggled on the couch or curled up in bed with my humans. I get along great with my foster family’s big, laid-back dog, but I’d prefer not to share my space with dogs that might make me feel uneasy.
Oh, and treats—peanut butter is my absolute favorite! I’m crate-trained at night, and I promise I’ll make your heart melt if you give me a chance.
If you’re patient, loving, and looking for a loyal best friend, I just might be the dog for you!

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
