This helps Red Fern Animal Rescue with pet care costs.
95 pounds of pure love (though the vet says he could lose a view) and a true gentle giant. Draco continues to prove he's the best dog a family could ask for as a sweet, affectionate couch potato. Draco is one of our longest residents in the rescue with 720+ days and counting of waiting, oh so patiently waiting, for his forever home. We don't want him to loose hope. Draco has watched many of his foster siblings come and go to their forever homes. He's always excited when he has a new friend to play with but sad when they leave.
Draco was initially found scrounging for food in a part of San Antonio known for its complete disregard for decent human kindness towards animals. Not only was he incredibly malnourished but he was so dirty from living on the streets- you couldn't tell what his true fur color was. Draco had been let down by humans. Thankfully he was so pure of heart and trusting that he allowed his rescuer to save him and give him another opportunity at life.
Draco absolutely loves being outside and soaking up the sun on beautiful days, as long as it's not too hot and not too cold. Draco can act like toddler and throws temper tantrums when he’s not ready to go inside. He loves getting belly rubs and snuggles whenever they are offered. Draco is very patient with children- his foster home has a 7 year old who enjoys playing fetch and chase with Draco in the backyard (although he does have to consistently be reminded that the point of the game is to bring the ball back!). Draco is working on leash manners and does better on a harness when walking. Draco is good with dogs big and small, but prefers any large male dogs to be submissive. Draco is crate trained but would rather be hanging with you on the couch or outside.
Draco's only flaws are that he needs to be fed separate from his furry friends, is really cute, and is not a fan of sharing his toys. After being starved on the streets he is still scared he doesn't know when he'll get his next meal or that it will be taken from him. But this big boy is ready to give you all his love!
Good with dogs and kids. NO CATS PLEASE!
Draco is currently being fostered in San Antonio and looking for an adopter or committed foster to adopt to hop on the transport to Denver scheduled for January.
