My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roosevelt is a 5 year old male chinchilla who was surrendered due to his owner no longer being able to keep him in her housing. He lived with another male chinchilla, who passed of old age 6 months before his surrender.

Roosevelt came to us with ringworm, but after a month of treatment he is clear and his fur is growing back in beautifully! It will take some time for his full coat to return.

Roosevelt is a sweet boy. He would likely do well with another male chinchilla, or would be okay in a solo home where he gets lots of attention. He can be nervous but he will take treats from you if you are patient, and relaxes once held. He likes to hop around the house during free roam time and snuggle up in a soft hammock. Chinchillas prefer to climb into your arms on their own terms rather than being picked up (unless necessary) but we are working with him on his handling skills. He will happily sit in your lap for a bit for some petting before deciding it's time to explore

Chinchillas can live between 15-20 years, sometimes even up to 30. He is an adult but he is not anywhere close to elderly! You'll have many years of love and snuggles with this amazing boy.
