My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I love to play and will need appropriate toys and positive outlets for my energy.

I am not one to sit still and will love interactive playtime in my new home!

I am eager to learn and would love to keep learning cues and tricks with you!

I am really treat motivated. You can use treats to teach me new things!

A volunteer writes: Tall and handsome, sweet and social, fun and playful - there's so much to love about Hero! My favorite thing, though, is how he softly wiggles all 60-pounds of himself into my legs, happily lapping up all the pets and back-rubs and butt-scratches I shower on him. (He's been very social with other volunteers and staff, too). When I give him cheek-rubs, he's just as adorable - gently rolling his huge head around in my hands, making sure I get every last spot. Coming in as a stray, I'm not sure if Hero was taught any cues; but to my delight I find he knows "sit" and "shake/give paw" - smart boy! (He's also had great housebreaking habits at the shelter with regular walks). He also loves toys...often carrying his new plushy back to his bed and stretching out with it before getting down to the fun work of trying to pull it apart. Though Hero is very people-friendly, he hasn't shown the same love for dogs, so he should be the only pet in the home and avoid dog parks for now. This big, sweet pup is sure to charm you as he's done for so many of us!
