Nyla is a one-year-old bundle of joy with a lively, puppy-like spirit. She’s social, wiggly, and full of energy, always ready to zoom around and engage with people or other dogs. Nyla recently met a senior dog and demonstrated her polite and playful side, showing she can adapt her energy to suit her playmates.
This spunky girl loves attention and leans in for pets, but she’s still learning her manners. With patience, training, and an outlet for her energy, Nyla is sure to thrive in the right home.
She’ll do best in a home without young children, where she can receive consistent guidance and plenty of playtime. Nyla is smart, affectionate, and eager to please—a little diamond in the rough ready to shine!
Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Nyla at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Behavior notes:
1/2/25 volunteer notes: Nyla is a super sweet little girl. She seems about a year old full of young “puppy like” energy. Nyla had nice kennel presence and was happy to come out. Once out of the kennel she bolted to start running, super excited and eager to get outside. Nyla met another dog Sunny Winter (female) and did well. She is submissive, yet playful and seemed to have a nice on/off switch when around her. Sunny Winter was a more uninterested senior and Nyla was polite.
Nyla however leash bites and becomes overstimulated quickly with handler. She began mouthing me, biting my clothing (and holding onto it) and climbing the leash quickly. I had difficulty redirecting her and refraining her from leash biting. I noticed she started leash biting when became bored and were standing still outside. I attempted to redirect with food but she had difficult time leaving me alone. I unfortunately did not have another slip lead with me to double leash or a toy to attempt distract. I would not place her with children or an inexperienced home if available for adoption. She is definitely a lot of energy and will need someone patient to help her decompress, fulfill her energy needs and learn some manners.
also to add her eyes were super crusty, I’m not sure if she has an eye infection or cherry developing but wanted to note as well.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Nyla was on the front side of kennel for cleaning. She came to the door with soft eyes and a wagging tail. She was nervous for leashing but still allowed for easy leashing.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately
Leash bites
HANDLING:
In the room Nyla was super wiggly and social! She ran around play bowing and zooming, going from handler to handler to say hi. She allowed all over handling and would lean in when petting her. She does display lots of puppy mannerisms and can be jumpy, mouthy and lack manners at times. She took treats nicely when offered and showed knowledge of sit.
PLAY:
Engages in play
TOYS:
Releases willingly
12/29/24 volunteer notes: Nyla is a happy puppy that came in to the shelter yesterday as a stray. She pulled a bit when we got outside so I switched to the harness method which worked well. See video of her on a walk. We then had a good dog meet with Corvette. They really wanted to play. When Nyla got bored with standing or got excited with her surroundings, she bit her leash. She was fairly easy to redirect. When I squatted down to pet her, she came and jumped on me to play. Since she’s a puppy still, I think exercise and some training would really help. I took her to the dog run right after her dog meet and she ran after some tennis balls. When I then squatted down to pet her, she was great, no jumping. She didn’t bite her leash again at all either. She also showed me that she knows sit. See videos of her walking, playing, and getting pets.
