My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Nova
As one of the three Calico cats at Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe, I would like to break that old stereotype of Calicos having `Cattitude.` I know that is what you hear through the grapevine, but just because I`m shy and not easily coaxed into coming out of my hiding spot does not mean I have a bad attitude. It simply takes me a while to adjust to new places, people, and things, but give me enough time, and I can become brave. My owner has had me since I was 6 months old, and I am now 3.5. The only reason I was surrendered was because my owner lost her home. After passing my medical examination, I was sent to live at the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC), which was initially a little overwhelming. While the interviewer lady (IL) visited the newest cats, I was curled up in a hidey hole, unwilling to come out. I am a very petite girl, only 5.9 pounds. I have the potential to be a perfectly lovely pet for someone with patience and an understanding of shy kitties. Please give me the time and space I need to become comfortable in my new home, and my bravery should develop nicely. 1-7-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
