Subway is a super sweet and gentle soul who was found as a stray in the city. Her journey has been filled with uncertainty, but you can tell she’s slowly learning to trust and open up to humans.
In the shelter, Subway has shown that she’s nervous but incredibly tolerant and affectionate in her own quiet way. When a volunteer brought her into the office, she was trembling but nestled close for comfort and gentle petting. She loves to seek out the reassurance of her handlers, often leaning in for attention despite her nervousness.
In her kennel, Subway can seem fearful at first, often lying on her bed with trembling and flattened ears. But with some baby talk and patience, she’ll slowly approach with low wags and an open heart. She walks well on a leash, pulling minimally, and is easy to handle, though she remains stressed and avoids eye contact at times.
Subway isn’t ready for play or toys just yet—she’s still adjusting to her new surroundings. But with a calm and patient home that allows her to adjust at her own pace, we’re confident she’ll bloom into the loving companion we know she can be.
Are you the one to help Subway find her confidence and happiness? She’s waiting for her forever home where she can feel safe and loved.
Behavior Notes:
Per staff 1/10/25: Subway is adorable! A volunteer brought her into the office and she was trembling, but was absolutely sweet. She solicited attention from me, allowed slow petting, did a few subtle lip licks when another handler got close, but she just nestled closer to me for petting and comfort.
Per staff 1/9/25: KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Subway was laying on her bed trembling and with flattened sideways ears and dilated eyes. She appeared fearful. The handler crouched down and used baby talk and she slowly stood up and came forward with low wags. Allowed for easy leashing and then exited easily.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING :
