Misty is a sweet and loving cat who, at her core, just wants to be loved and cared for. However, she's a bit shy and fearful at first, especially in a busy environment like a shelter. The noise and chaos of the shelter make it hard for her to truly relax, but in a calm, quiet home, she could truly flourish. Misty has had some difficult experiences in her past, particularly around small children, and she’s best suited for an adult-only household where she can feel safe and secure. She has also had issues with litterbox habits and urinary tract infections (UTIs), which can be triggered by stress, so a calm and easy going environment is best for her. Once Misty feels comfortable and settled in, her gentle, loving nature will shine through. She just needs a patient and understanding family to give her the time and space she needs to thrive.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
