My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sox aka Socrates is a magnificent 4-year old male kitty who was fending for himself in the Marietta Ohio area and depending upon the kindness of good people in the neighborhood. Fortunately for Sox, he befriended one of those Good Samaritans (or vice versa) who took him in and provided a temporary foster home for Sox until he could find a home of his very own.

This handsome guy has a brown tabby short smooth coat with white markings on his chest/paws, a long ringed tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark golden eyes, a brown velvet nose, a dusting of white on his muzzle, and long white whiskers.

His foster mother provided this information about Sox aka Socrates:

"Sox is a quiet boy who is very affectionate, and he gets along with other cats. Sox is told each and every day that he is 'such a good, handsome boy', and he seems to smile hearing that beautiful compliment. Sox waits for petting before eating, and he waits his turn to get fed. He is a very big boy and loves his food. Sox enjoys both canned/wet food (Fancy Feast or Friskies) and dry kibble (Purina One or Purina Naturals)."

Sox was combo tested on March 25, 2024. He was negative for FIV and heartworm but tested positive for feline leukemia. Sox has shown no signs of illness and always seems healthy, so he has not needed any special care. Hopefully this was a false positive test and that Sox will test negative on a future test. Sox is being listed as a 'Special Needs Kitty' only because of the positive FeLV test result.

Sox was neutered on December 20, 2023.

Spock has been dewormed and has had monthly flea treatment (Advantage Multi). He is up-to-date with all vaccines including boosters and rabies vaccine.

This big lovebug currently weighs 15 lbs.

These photos of Sox were taken on January 4, 2025. Sox has the sweetest, rather demure, personality and was a pushover for attention during his photo session. The sentiment which was displayed on the picture in the background "You had me at Meow" proved to be 100% true with this gentle giant of a kitty (smile).

His foster mother brought Sox to HSOV on January 4, 2025 along with three of his companions who were also sharing his home (Ariel, Sox aka Socrates, and Sulu). Each of these beautiful cats are ready to find a loving home.

Update: Sox went back to his foster home on January 8, 2025 so that he could continue to enjoy the comfort/freedom of a real home instead of a small shelter cage. Sox is still available for adoption with the perfect new 'parents' and the appropriate home.
