Meet Theodore!

This resilient boy has been through so much but never lost his spark! Found as a stray with injuries to his leg and jaw, Theodore’s wounds had already begun to heal on their own. This shows he endured pain for a long time before help arrived. Now, after months of care, he’s healed and thriving! His quirky jaw gives him a charming, silly smile, and his leg works great—though he might stumble if he gets too adventurous (don’t worry, we pretend not to notice!).

Theodore is full of playful energy and would love a cat buddy to help him learn the ropes. He’s still figuring out his playstyle, so a home with no small kids would be ideal. This sweet, goofy guy is ready for his forever family—could that be you?

All adoptable cats have received:
Spay/neuter surgery if over 2lbs
Distemper vaccine
Rabies vaccine (if over 16 weeks old)
De-wormer and flea prevention medication
Veterinary exam
Test for FIV and FeLV

ADOPTION PROCESS
1. Review our adoption contract and application.

2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling.

3. Submit an application, including the cat's name that you are interested in or description of what you are looking for.

4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application within 1-3 days.

5. If approved, you will be introduced to the foster to schedule a meeting within 5 days. Guidelines for the meeting are:

- Bring a carrier and be prepared to take the animal home directly from the meeting.

- Please be prepared to submit the adoption fee via electronic payment at the meeting.

- If all goes well, the cat will go home with you directly after the meeting. If you are not ready to adopt at the conclusion of the mee

OUR SPAY AND NEUTER POLICY
The Hero Rescue charges a $100.00 spay/neuter deposit with every unaltered puppy that is adopted. The purpose of the deposit is to ensure the puppy will be altered before she/he reaches 6 months of age. This $100 deposit is refundable if adopter provides proof of sterilization within 14 days of the procedure. After the adoption is completed, all vetting (spay/neuter, boosters, heart worm and flea prevention) are the responsibility of the adopter. This deposit will not be returned if the animal is not spayed/ neutered within the established timeline.

Puppies up to Six Months Old- $400 plus a refundable $100 Spay/Neuter Deposit ($500 total due at adoption)
Dogs Six Months and Up - $300

ADOPTION PROCESS

5. If approved, you will be introduced to the foster to schedule a meeting within 5 days. Guidelines for the meeting are:

- Bring a leash and collar and be prepared to take the animal home directly from the meeting.

- Meeting should be no longer than 1 hour. Our fosters are volunteers and we value and respect their time and personal commitments.

- All members of the household (including other dogs) must be present.

- Please be prepared to submit adoption fee via PayPal at the meeting – We do not accept payments prior to the meeting.

- If all goes well, the dog will go home with you directly after the meeting. If you are not ready to adopt at the conclusion of the meeting, please understand that we may process other applications for the dog. Because we have a limited amount of foster homes, we cannot hold dogs past adoption.

Our History
The Hero Rescue launched in 2019 with a group of experienced and dedicated fosters. We combined all of our experiences to visualize the mission and operation of The Hero Rescue. We are dedicated to the animals we serve, to the families we impact, and to respect for each other. We are a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization.

Our Mission
The Hero Rescue is formed by a network of volunteers and fosters committed to saving lives of animals at risk of euthanasia, abuse, and neglect. By relocating animals from over crowded shelters to Maryland for adequate veterinary care, castration, emotional rehabilitation and eventually adoption, we will make a difference in the lives of animals as well as in the local communities we serve .
