My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I'm Kali. I've been told I'm a bit of a mature lady, but don't let that fool you. I still have plenty of life and love to give. I'm a little shy, you see, but once I get to know you, I'll be your best friend. I enjoy my own space, a quiet corner to watch the world go by. I don't ask for much, just a little understanding and patience. I'm an independent soul, but I still appreciate a gentle stroke every now and then. If you're looking for a companion who will respect your space as much as she cherishes her own, then I'm the cat for you. I promise to bring a peaceful, calming presence to your home. Adopt me, and let's grow old together.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
