This pint-sized prince with a wirehaired coat is equal parts little dog sass and charming. Swiper is just a little boss who knows exactly what he wants: cuddles, treats, a cute sweater and being the apple of his favorite person's eye. Though he generally plays well with other dogs, Swiper occasionally reminds everyone with a vocal performance that he deserves his fair share of attention. He thrives on human companionship, making him the perfect companion for families of many lifestyles. This scruffy sweetheart brings just enough spunk to keep life interesting while being the adaptable companion that makes him a special pick. We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

3.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
