OAKLEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Oakley and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (01/26) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!
Name: Oakley Best Guess for Breed: Mastiff and retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 5 months as of December 2024 SEX: Female
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 42 lbs as of 12/22/24
Gets Along With: Oakley is good with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. She's in her prime socialization period and this is a good time for her to meet cats!
We would be cautious placing Oakley in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home.
Special Adoption Considerations: Right now, Oakley is pretty shy as she adjusts to life in a home. She needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will help show her the ropes!
Oakley is Looking For: Woof! My sisters Poppy, Piggy, Tubbs and my brother Cooper and I enjoyed our puppy pile but now we're eager to split up and get our own homes! I'm not complicated - I'd love to have a family to take walks with, go on hikes with, take car rides with, go to the dog park and a training class!! I would love to show my humans how much I love them. My needs are really rather basic: food, a bed (I can certainly share yours in a pinch hahaha I'm not really kidding I can), some toys (I promise not to use your shoes instead plus you're going to be smart and put them away ; ) ), some walks (and those are good for you too) and trips to the dog park or doggie day care (also I'm sure good for you!). And in exchange, I'll be the best girl for you and love you for the rest of my life!!
What do you say? Is there space for me in your home and your heart?
What My Foster Says About Me:
Oakley was very scared when she arrived a week ago. When we brought her home, she immediately went into the crate and stayed there. The first evening, our teen sat outside her crate and talked to her for hours with our dog by her side. She was able to get Oakley out of the crate the following night, with Oakley taking our dog’s lead into the living room and the couch.
Oakley is learning to trust us. She now comes off the couch to look outside the bay window where our dog loves to lounge and watch the neighborhood happenings, and she loves to sit and get pets.
She goes into the crate on her own and that is her favorite spot at night. She is the sweetest pup and adores our dog. It’s so sweet to see them together in the back yard, as Oakley is her shadow.
It’s so hard not to fall in love with her... Come out and meet her!
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
