Chester is the definition of a love bug—a mellow boy who’s searching for someone to share his days with. This laid-back pup adores affection but never demands it, preferring to wiggle his way next to you on the couch for some quiet cuddles.
Chester has a calm and easygoing nature, happily observing the world around him before finding a cozy spot to relax. Despite some discomfort from past wounds, he remains incredibly tolerant and kind, allowing all handling. He takes treats politely and enjoys the little moments of connection with those around him.
If you’re looking for a loyal, snuggly pal who’s ready to fill your home with love and warmth, Chester is your guy.
Eligible for rescue and adoption. Come meet this sweet soul ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and let him steal your heart!
Behavior notes:
01/22/2025 staff noted: Chester is a sweet and gentle, mellow fellow! He loves all the affection you can give but doesn't pester for it. He likes to check out what's going on but doesn't get overly excited and is content to just curl up and take a nap. He is a calm and easy going guy for sure!
1/18/25 staff notes:
KENNEL PRESENTATION: Chester was laying down in a ball sleeping when I approached. When I reached in for leashing he stayed in place and I was able to easily secure him. Once secured he came right out.
LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally – walks wobbly, slow on leash
HANDLING: In the room, Chester was wobbling around curiously and then found a spot to relax and was laying down taking deep breaths. He was very laid back and seemed to be very uncomfortable and in pain but remained tolerant. He had soft eyes when I approached and took treats from me gently. He allowed all handling even on his old wounds and sensitive areas. I did not do much handling besides the bare minimum or push him too hard as he isn't feeling his best.
PLAY: No interest
TOYS: Minimal interest
Per staff 1/17: “I did a very brief exam to ensure Chester was stable to stay overnight in shelter. He was a little nervous a first but I went slow and talked sweet and got tail wags from him. I was able to pet him from head to toe, lift up his lips to check his gums and re-sheathed his penis with no issue. Later I went up to his cage and talked to him. He just looked at me with soft eyes.”
Medical Notes:
Per an exam on 1/19: “Body condition score of 1. Eyes have discharge, nose has slight discharge. His coat/skin is dry with old scars. P came into exam room for brief exam ,presented as emaciated with wounds and old scars on face and body and very timid but sweet offered some wet food and P did eat.”
Per an exam on 1/19: “Patient was noted on intake exam to have a very poor body condition. Any patient with a BCS of a 1 or 2 is eligible for a medical feeding treatment plan. P’s current weight: 52.9 lbs, P's ideal weight: 60-65 lbs.
Per an exam on 1/18: “Eyes have some green discharge, ears are waxy. Tartar on K9’s and staining. Dandruff and wounds on face. Bright, alert, responsive, calm but shy.
Per staff 1/17: “Pt is nearly emaciated and mild-mod dehydration. Very interested in f/w. He has wounds on his face. Penis was partially out and dry so re-sheathed it and it stayed back in. Gums were p/t. There are staples on both pinnae from when his ears were cropped.”
