Ernie was definitely a happy surprise today! When I approached his kennel, he was laying on his bed, and didn't seem very interested in going out. I threw a couple treats in and he watched me. Opening the door, I tossed some more treats, and crouched down. He took a minute, but then slowly came over and allowed me to leash him. He stepped out of the kennel on his own, and a staff member noted how happy they were to see that he walked out on his own (mentioned he was shaking in fear before). He gave some gentle wags and sniffs to the staff member, then we headed outside. I expected he wouldn't have too much energy, but once he got his business done and sniffed around a while, he showed off some more of his personality! He crawled up to get some pets from me, and took treats very nicely. He got bouncy with a few different toys, and seemed like he would be a fun playmate once he's comfortable. He got lots of sniffs in the yard, and had mid/high tail wags. He knocked over the toy crate when his leash got caught, and got a little spooked & ran away from the noise, but recovered really well! He got a brief burst of zoomies where he did several tight circles after getting some affection from me. He also saw several dogs thru the fence, including a brief fence meet with Chew, and he responded well.

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Ernie was on his bed and looked up with soft eyes. He gave some wags when showing him the leash but stayed on his bed and was a bit nervous. He allowed the handler to reach in and easily place the leash on his head. Exited easily without issue when the handler used some baby talk.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING :
In the room Ernie was very affectionate and timid. He was very gentle and would nudge himself close to us to soft eyes, low wags, and a low body. He was tolerant to all over handling and did not have any handling sensitivities, allowing us to touch his paws, belly, face, tail and sides without issue. No interest in treats while out.
PLAY:
Engaged in play
TOYS
Interest but no possession
01/22/25 staff notes: Finder described Ernie as friendly shy quiet
