My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Groot is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix with a heart of gold, but it may take him a little time to warm up to new faces. Transferred from the Fresno Animal Center, he’s been building his confidence in his new environment. Though a bit shy at first, with patience and love, Groot will blossom into the curious little companion he’s meant to be. He’s independent and has a strong sense of what he wants, so he’ll need an adopter who can respect his boundaries and provide gentle guidance.

Groot’s ideal home would be a calm, patient household with someone who can offer the love and understanding he needs to feel secure. He’s not the best fit for a home with young children, but he will thrive with adults and older children who can respect his boundaries. Once he feels comfortable, he’ll show his playful side and make you smile every day. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart who just needs a little extra time to thrive, Groot could be your perfect match! Come meet him today and help him start his new chapter of love and happiness.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1868, The SF SPCA is a community-supported nonprofit dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats and dogs. We do this through immediate care of animals that are homeless, ill or in need of an advocate, but we also work to educate the community, reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies through spaying/neutering, and improve the quality of life for animals and their companions.
