Meet Palmer, a lively American guinea pig born on 9.24.2024, who has found his perfect companion in his cheeky friend Tripp.
These handsome, super energetic young males will keep you smiling and laughing as they continuously popcorn around their enclosure, happy as can be. Palmer thrives on enrichments such as stacking cups and foraging in hay. Being a baby, Palmer is still learning to trust humans, especially when being picked up. These guinea pigs enjoy hides with two exits as they love doing zoomies throughout their entire enclosure.
To watch a video of this dynamic duo popcorning around and having a blast together, visit our Facebook page at 'Southern Maryland Guinea Pig Rescue.'
Whoever decides to adopt these boys will find endless entertainment just watching them interact with each other. They love a freshly cleaned cage, and that is when you will see their excitement at its peak as they buck, shake, and popcorn to show their appreciation of a clean cage.
If interested in young male guinea pigs, please take the time to research the "teenage" years to understand possible normal behaviors during this stage. The teenage years typically last from 3 months to 1 year, usually fizzling out completely by 14-18 months. All guinea pigs are different, so no two are alike.
If you have room in your heart and home for this duo, please use the link below to apply.
Please be aware that we are working with Adopt-A-Pet to resolve an issue with the "Apply to Adopt" button on our piggy profiles. Currently, it opens a blank page due to an incorrect insertion of "amp;" in the link (between the & and m). If you delete "amp;" from the link and hit enter, it will direct you to our adoption application. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the link provided above into your browser.
If you are hesitant about adopting a guinea pig or are unsure if they are the right fit for your family, consider fostering a pair instead. By joining our Foster program, you will be helping more guinea pigs in need of care. We are a small foster-based rescue that relies on foster homes to provide care for these piggies. Together, we can make a difference and save lives! We are in DESPERATE NEED of foster homes. Tripp and Palmer are one of the pairs looking for a foster home while waiting to be adopted. If you are interested in our fostering program, please apply using the link provided below or contact us for more information at somdguineapigrescue@gmail.com.
** ALL VOLUNTEER FOSTERS ARE PROVIDED A CAGE AND NECESSARY SUPPLIES. IN RETURN WE ASK THAT OUR VOLUNTEER FOSTERS SUPPLY FRESH WATER, CLEAN CAGES, AND FRESH VEGGIES DAILY.** We ask that volunteer fosters be within 50 miles of Hughesville, MD.

More about this rescue
We are a small foster based guinea pig rescue in Southern Maryland. Our 501c3 nonprofit rescue's mission is to educate the public on proper guinea pig care and husbandry as pet stores often misinform the public about cage size, nutrition, what is and is not safe, and guinea pigs are often mis sexed or sick at pet stores which leads to guinea pigs being surrendered or worse, abandoned outside. By adopting from rescues like ours, it helps to ensure adopters won't have surprise/unwanted pregnancies, unhealthy piggies, mis sexed guinea pigs while also helping guinea pigs to stay in their furever homes!
