My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Keta, a gentle soul searching for a patient and understanding home to call her own. This sweet girl may be a little nervous at first, but her tender heart shines through as she slowly warms up. Keta feels most comfortable in cozy spaces, often seeking out quiet corners to settle in. Once she trusts you, she’ll melt your heart by resting her head in your lap and gazing up at you with soft, loving eyes.
Keta allows all handling and enjoys gentle pets, though she’s a bit unsure of movements over her head and needs a slow, reassuring approach. While toys and treats don’t hold her attention for long, she’s curious enough to explore and even help herself to a crinkle toy or two.
Keta’s looking for someone who can provide her with the patience, encouragement, and love she deserves. Could you be the safe haven she’s been waiting for?

Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Keta
at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

Behavior notes:
01/25/2025 volunteer notes: Keta is a super sweet lady! Scared and hesitant at first when I approached kennel. I dropped a few treats and she came to the front of kennel and allowed leashing easily. Very open to handling after a few minutes! Took handling from me and from a few other staff members and volunteers in the vol office. Takes treats gently and knows sit! Likes hiding under things when overwhelmed. She pancaked trying to walk outside, but then let me pick her up and carry her. She’s definitely just a scared lady and very unsure with noises! Didn’t like being outside in the snow and just stayed by the gate trying to get in, so we went back inside. I had to carry her into her kennel because she pancakes. Very open to handling just a scared gal!

Per staff 1/25/25: Keta came into the volunteer office for a visit! She was initially very timid with a tucked tail, but then her tail slowly untucked and gave a little wag when she greeted a staff member who she was familiar with. After a few moments she came over to me and hid under my desk and allowed slow petting to her side. She then started getting braver and her body language loosened a bit - she greeted new volunteers and allowed brief petting. She also let a volunteer pick her up to be carried outside. She was super sweet and tolerant.

01/24/2025 staff notes:
Keta got out for some activity time today! She was nervous in kennel, but was easy to leash and came right out once secured. In the room she was nervous, and took a few minutes to adjust. She refused some treats I offered, and then sniffed around the room to potty. She liked to hang out under the desk, I think she feels more comfortable in small spaces. Keta would put her head in my lap and just look up with dilated, soft eyes. She allowed all pets and handling and was very sweet despite her fear. I did notice that she got scared whenever I reached over her, to grab treats or to type. She doesn't like things going over her head, and would cower away. She mouthed at toys, but would lose interest in them quickly. When it was time to return to kennel she gave me no issues and climbed right in. Overall, Keta is a very sweet girl that just needs a slow approach and lots of encouragement!

01/23/2025 staff notes: Keta was very nervous in the foster office--hiding under desks and trembling. I offered my hand and she came forward to sniff, pupils large and tail tucked, but she licked my hand, and then came forward more to lean close to my face, and gave me another lick.
She took a crinkle toy very gently from my hand, and helped herself to a bag of more toys under a desk. She tentatively explored the foster office, still trembling. Very gentle girl; she allowed pets to her head, back and chest.

01/23/2025 staff notes: I took keta out and she gave me no issues leashing her. She did need a lot of encouragement to walk but she seemed to really like one of the kennel attendants so she would walk beside him very nicely. She allows full body handling and does have interest in some toys, plus she knows sit! She went potty outside and said hello to multiple people on the walk over to the office and back (Men and Woman). She is treat motivated and VERY sweet. 10/10 girl that just needs a slow approach!

01/22/2025 staff notes:
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Keta was on the backside of her kennel pressed against the corner and appeared very fearful. The handler lowered the divider and went to the backside where she was at. She would not glance up and was just trembling in the corner with dilated eyes. The handler was able to reach in and leash her ears to snout and she very slowly exited her kennel and then pancaked.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally, pancakes often and needed lots of motivation and coaxing. Freezes and drops to the ground often and needed slow spurts of movement
Allowed the handler to carry her

HANDLING :
In the room Keta was very fearful and timid. Baby talk did help her to warm up a bit and she would approach with semi soft wide eyes and tucked wags. Allowed handling in light spurts and would then walk off to explore a bit. She had enough confidence to explore the room, but would then come back over to us quickly for comfort. She would not take treats in the room when offered, but would sniff at them interested. She would continue to come over to us when speaking to her in a baby voice giving some soft eye contact, licking our hands, and allowing handling in small spurts. When a new handler entered Ket remained close to us and was nervous. She gave some stiff eye contact and was fearful, but was unreactive to the new handler entering the room.

PLAY:
No interest

TOYS
Interest but no possession

01/21/2025 staff notes: I passed by Keta a few times when she was in the lobby. She was right next to the hall, so I was pretty close to her. She was barking a lot, but that's all I noticed when I went by.

01/21/2025 staff notes:
I walked through the intake lobby past the dog while she was being intaked. She came towards me and sniffed my leg as there wasn’t much room between where she was standing with the finder and the wall, and seemed nervous but relaxed. When I walked back through the lobby, she hard stared and growled at me as I walked past, even though I was further away. She did not attempt to lunge although I moved quickly away so as not to test her reaction.

01/21/2025 staff notes:
She was very scared didn't even want to walk, finder carried her in here. But she is very friendly allowed pets and scanning. No barking or growling. approached a child and only sniffed her did not react. No reactions to strangers as well.
