Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Summer, an American piggy approximately 2.5 years old, who was surrendered by her owner in the spring of 2023. Summer formed a bond with a female named Lavender, who unfortunately passed away in May 2024, leaving Summer lonely and depressed. It became clear that Summer needed a companion soon, but it would be challenging as she did not get along with many other females.
Shortley after, Allie was returned to our care, and she was a sweet, docile girl that once lived in our female herd with Summer, we were optimistic they would become friends. Thankfully, Allie and Summer have bonded nicely and have become the perfect duo who needed the interaction of one another!
Allie and Summer are ready to find their perfect family. Allie, the queen of hammock lounging and expert in delivering side-eye, is a confident little lady who knows how to relax in style. Her best friend, Summer, is a laid-back companion who is happiest by Allie's side, enjoying their cozy moments together.
These two girls would thrive either as neighbors to other female guinea pigs or as the only guinea pigs in your home, especially since Summer isn't too fond of the hustle and bustle of a big herd. They are a close-knit pair who genuinely love each other's company and would bring joy and personality to their new home. These girls are truly Timothy Hay monsters who devour hay like no one's business.
They must have an adopter who will provide Timothy Hay only, as that is what both girls prefer and do best on, especially with their already sensitive gastrointestinal tracts.
If you are looking for a sweet, sassy, and inseparable duo, Allie and Summer are ready to settle in and start their next chapter with you.
Please be aware that we are working with Adopt-A-Pet to resolve an issue with the "Apply to Adopt" button on our piggy profiles. Currently, it opens a blank page due to an incorrect insertion of "amp;" in the link (between the & and m). If you delete "amp;" from the link and hit enter, it will direct you to our adoption application. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the link provided above into your browser.
If you are hesitant about adopting a guinea pig or are unsure if they are the right fit for your family, consider fostering a pair instead. By joining our Foster Program, you will be helping more guinea pigs in need of care. We are a small foster-based rescue that relies on foster homes to provide care for these piggies. Together, we can make a difference and save lives! We are in DESPERATE NEED of foster homes. Tripp and Palmer are one of the pairs looking for a foster home while waiting to be adopted. If you are interested in our fostering program, please apply using the link provided below or contact us for more information at somdguineapigrescue@gmail.com.
** ALL VOLUNTEER FOSTERS ARE PROVIDED WITH A CAGE AND NECESSARY SUPPLIES. IN RETURN WE ASK THAT OUR VOLUNTEER FOSTERS SUPPLY FRESH WATER, CLEAN CAGES, AND FRESH VEGGIES DAILY. ** We ask that volunteer fosters be within 50 miles of Hughesville, MD.

More about this rescue
We are a small foster based guinea pig rescue in Southern Maryland. Our 501c3 nonprofit rescue's mission is to educate the public on proper guinea pig care and husbandry as pet stores often misinform the public about cage size, nutrition, what is and is not safe, and guinea pigs are often mis sexed or sick at pet stores which leads to guinea pigs being surrendered or worse, abandoned outside. By adopting from rescues like ours, it helps to ensure adopters won't have surprise/unwanted pregnancies, unhealthy piggies, mis sexed guinea pigs while also helping guinea pigs to stay in their furever homes!
