HASH BROWN hails from Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first 2 sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found all alone so we have no information on either parent so the breeds he’s listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just a guess. We figure he looks like a Dutch Shepherd as he has very unique brindle markings on his legs which are typical to the breed. If you’re looking for a typical energetic little puppy who a loves to be with his people and playing with the many dog toys in his foster home.
HASH BROWN is one lucky pup as he’s being fostered by our puppy trainer. He’s learning the basic commands plus a whole lot more and getting lots of socialization with all the other dogs in the home. In the words of his foster “He’s doing well and very smart. Lots of shepherd traits,
playful, very confident at home and mostly confident outside the home.” He’s crate trained and will sleep soundly in it at night and also take naps in there during the day. He’s really good at using the bathroom outside and has had very few accidents in the home but it’s still a work in progress as he’s not at the stage to ask to go outside yet. He’s just started to go on walks and like all puppies, he excitedly runs ahead of you. He often uses the bathroom on his walks too. He loves to chew and can become quite bitey so lots of chewy toys for this boy like Kongs and Nyla bones to keep him busy.
HASH BROWN’s ideal family would definitely have Shepherd experience and be willing to continue his training to make him be the best all round boy he can be. His family would also be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and happily take him on an adventure or two, especially seeing as he travels so well in the vehicle. He’ll do well in a home with other dogs due to all the socializing he’s been doing with them. He’s never met a cat but if the cat is dog savvy and the introduction is done slowly and carefully monitored then he should do well with one. He’ll also do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 12 and up plus be very dog savvy. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play.
Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for continued puppy/obedience training to help him continue to become the well mannered and good boy he’s headed to be. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs, which ever comes first. It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in a cone) in order to do the reimbursement.
If HASH BROWN sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.
