My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Doppio!
“Doppio” means a double shot of espresso, which is what you’ll need in order to keep up with this youngster!
Doppio, or Dopey as he’s sometimes called, is approximately 1 year old! He’s full grown at 55 lbs, but he’s still got that bouncy puppy energy and squishy puppy face to go with it!

Doppio is a perfect young adult dog!
He is crate trained and potty trained. He walks very well on a leash and he enjoys loading up in the car for a drive!

Doppio is dog friendly, but his excitable play style might overwhelm calmer or older dogs who don’t enjoy his big puppy antics! Doppio would greatly benefit from having an older, balanced dog companion who can offer corrections and teach him to play politely and appropriately!
Doppio has not met any cats while in his foster home and we are unsure as to how he would interact with them.

Doppio is extremely personable and friendly. He never meets a stranger and is happy to say hello to all sorts of people while out and about!

Doppio would definitely enjoy the company of children, but due to his oversized puppy playfulness, he will probably be better suited for older children rather than small toddlers! He is so affectionate and sweet but sometimes forgets his manners and jumps up in greeting and has to be reminded that toys are for chewing rather than his humans’ hands!
He is easy to correct and redirect using toys and treats.

Doppio loves to fetch all day long! If you can throw a ball, Doppio will be perfectly content to retrieve it as many times as you can throw it! He also enjoys water and doesn’t mind wading and splashing! He’d be a wonderful companion for any outdoor adventure such as hiking, swimming, running, camping, etc!

Doppio was a friendly and beloved neighborhood stray that several neighbors would help feed, but nobody would claim him as their own and offer their home to him! He’s such a wonderful boy, and he’s more than ready to begin his new life with a family of his very own for the first time!

Additional adoption info

A successful adoption depends on the selection of the right pet for your household and your understanding of your responsibility of adopting a rescued animal. Our adoption procedures have been designed to make sure all rescued Sandi Paws pets are placed in an appropriate, loving forever home, and to make sure all adopters find the right fit for their family. Prior to adoption, all dogs and cats will be given all age-appropriate vaccinations, including rabies, kennel cough, parvo and distemper, spaying/neutering, intestinal deworming, heartworm testing/treatment, microchipping, and monthly heartworm medication and flea prevention.

Note: We will adopt pets outside of Wisconsin if we can do necessary background and reference checks and the adopters agree to provide necessary follow up information. Also, the adopting family must agree to travel to pick up the pet and agree to transport them back to Wisconsin if they need to be returned at any time.
