My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.

Pistachio is on the at-risk list for medical reasons. He is a senior cat with chronic kidney disease. He is social and eating well in care, but he needs to be kept on a prescription kidney diet and requires on going veterinary check ups for monitoring of his kidney function. Pistachio needs a quiet environment outside of the shelter with more vet care than is feasible in a shelter setting.

A volunteer writes:
Senior Pistachio was left behind when his owner moved away....What an adorable peanut he is! An oreo cookie, a bit thin, wide eyed, with pointed ears and a youngish little face I love to hold in my hand.. Pistachio is an independent kitty who is a bit taken aback by his new living conditions. He is going between being very curious and a bit shy but I have the feeling that his sweet, outgoing and fun nature will prevail. He is glad to get treats, enjoys very much catnip toys and adores to be cared for and loved(see video). Pistachio is a very pleasant cat to spend time with. I have no doubt that he will be a great companion to the new owner who will give the chance to spend his golden years, safe, cared for and loved. Amazing Pistachio is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center.
Addendum: Pistachio is a socialite. He is at his door in no time when he sees a potential visitor. He has lots to say and wants to be heard, understood and loved. He has quite a bit of energy but can be very quiet too, resting peacefully on his kuranda bed when there is nothing to do. He must have spent some time on the street before being owned as he is ear tipped and that is why, I think he is so savvy.I love Pistachio and I so hope that someone will open their home and heart to him!
