Animal Profile: Luigi is a handsome estimated one year old male Doberman who will be joining us from southern California on Sunday Jan 19. He was euthanasia listed due to space / overcrowding in the shelter system. He has been kenneled with other dogs and done fantastic in play groups. He is friendly with people. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care .
Foster Update: Luigi update! He’s been with us for almost a week and is healing well from his neuter surgery. For such a big (young) dog, he’s very mild mannered indoors, although he’ll need plenty of training to walk nicely on a leash. He’s currently learning to sit and wait quietly while interesting dogs and other distractions go by. Luigi went on his first outing to a quiet brewery on Saturday and did a great job both there and in the car. He’s been playful with the 3 dogs he’s met up close (12-80lb range) and hasn’t shown any signs of reactivity to our neighbor’s young kids. He winds down quickly after a walk or play session and will fall asleep upright if you give his cheeks the right kind of scritches.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
