Have you ever lost everything you knew and loved? I have.

My name is Milan, and my story started at CARE when I was just a 6-month-old puppy. I thought I had found my forever home, and for years, I was happy and loved. But life changed, and suddenly, I wasn’t part of that home anymore. I was surrendered to Chicago Animal Control—confused, scared, and heartbroken.

Then, something amazing happened. CARE didn’t forget me. They got the call that I was there and rushed to pick me up. The moment they saw me, they knew I was still the same sweet girl—just a little older, a little skinnier, and in need of love again.

Now, I’m in an amazing foster home where I’ve been gaining my strength back (I’ve put on 4 pounds and now weigh 53 pounds!). My foster family absolutely adores me and says my tail never stops wagging. I love giving kisses, going for car rides, and taking nice, easy walks. I’m potty trained, have perfect manners in the home, and never jump on furniture—I just need a super comfy bed to curl up on.

And here’s the sweetest thing—when I know you’re about to leave, I sit up and gently place my two paws on your thigh, as if to say, 'Please stay a little longer.' I just want to be near my people, to love and be loved.

I don’t want to lose another home—I want to find my true forever. Could you be the one to love me for the rest of my days? I promise I’ll love you right back.

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
