Hello to my future family! My name is Muffin and I am so excited to meet you! I came all the way from California for the good life, and so far I love MN. I am currently around 30+ lbs, but foster mom is trying to fatten me up a bit. She calls me a pocket low rider with the most beautiful brindle coat. The perfect size! What you will most love about me is my happy and playful spirit. Foster mom has told me so many times that I am a really special young lady, and that any family would be lucky to have me. In fact, if she didn’t already have three resident dogs, she said I would have been able to stay!
I am a fun and frisky young lady, and so far I seem to love my humans and other dogs. It takes me about 30 seconds to warm up to the humans, and I come in slowly when meeting other dogs but warm up after a day or so…just a little shy. I currently live with three resident dogs, a 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix, a 6 year old Pittie mix, and a 11 year old Lab mix. I am learning so much from them now that I am the only foster in the house. I know foster mom appreciates that I don’t come in “hot,” but take my time to really get to know them before the playtime begins. I love playing with the resident dogs and cuddling for naptime with the Pittie mix.
We are working on some training, but I have been learning a lot from the resident dogs. I am potty trained and I am also comfortable in a kennel, and sometimes just go rest in there. We have already worked a lot on impulse control and have already shown progress in waiting patiently for food/treats and decreasing the jumping behaviors. I have a pretty good sit’s and am working on a few other things, but as a foster with lots of recent changes, we are taking it slow. It helps that my foster mom is a professional dog trainer and is super patient with my learning process. When in doubt, a quick “uh uh” will stop me and get my attention. Finally, I am very treat motivated so am super easy to train!
I absolutely love toys…doesn’t matter what type as my preference changes day by day. I really love nylabones and things like that and playing tug is super fun! If I had my perfect world, it would consist of all the belly rubs, all the toys, and a human to cuddle with.
I love people! I will give you a big smile and a wiggle butt and be your best friend after a few treats as a hello but just give me a few minutes to warm up to you. I am a little shy at first, but I warmed up to my new foster mom in about 30 seconds! I really want to please my human(s) and am trying really hard to make the best decisions! So make sure to reward me when I make good decisions. More than anything, I am working on building my confidence, which means foster mom gives me so many news things and new sounds and then lets me know how awesome I am. I am a medium energy dog, so I really like to play and have fun activities and then crash and cuddle for 75% of the day.
Are you the family for me? I always have a happy face for my human and just love to be near you! Foster mom says that she can tell that I just want to please the humans…get the cuddles…and eat all the treats! I would do great with any family as either the only dog or with a playful and confident older dog. Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed!
