Hi, Ernie Ford here, a 6 year old beagle boy from Tennessee! I got to come to Arizona on a plane! A BIG plane (thank you SWATT Transport and Southwest Airlines)! I got to ride under the seat next to a really nice person who then delivered me to Arizona Beagle Rescue. I didn't know what else to say about myself, but here's what my foster mom has to say about me:Ernie loves cuddles and food. So far, he loves every person he has met. He is pretty submissive with other dogs. Cuddles up with my beagle. Crate training is a work in progress (currently on restricted activity for a low level heartworm treatment) but he is getting used to it. Keeping him calm has been a bit of a challenge, but we are getting there. He used the dog door, but we stay out there with him to make sure he goes before getting back in the crate. He doesn't have very good boundaries at times. He will try to eat your food and gets on the end tables. He likes to chew especially socks. My humans here in Arizona think I would be best in a home with another dog or two (but probably not 45!) because I get a little lonely and whiny when left alone. Meet Pete! Pete was rescued from the west county shelter. We don’t know much about his life before the shelter but we do know that he came in with a friend. When his friend was added to the euthanasia list (due to being stressed in the shelter environment) she was saved but that meant he was left on his own. He, too, became stressed and it was a matter of time before he landed on the euthanasia list as well. Fortunately he was saved, too. Now, Pete is looking for a foster or a forever home. He’s said to be 2 years old and at 33lbs appears to be quite the mix — possibly beagle / basset hound / pittie mix. While he may be small in size, he more than makes up for it in personality. Pete had been staying with a dog trainer that was helping Pete build his trust in people. He’s come a long way and the trainer believes he’s now ready for the next chapter in his life. The trainer could even facilitate his move into his new home, too — making sure it’s a good mutual fit for all involved. Pete does well with men and women — and gets along with dogs of all sizes. Of course, a meet and greet will best determine how he is with the people / pets of prospective fosters / adopters. He’d do best in a patient home with an experienced foster / adopter that will continue to reinforce what the trainer has taught him. All this boy wants is to be someone’s loyal, faithful friend — and is waiting to meet YOU!
