Story
Bart is a happy, friendly, loving, lovable, and playful, two-year-old, 26-pound male tri-color Beagle looking for a loving guardian. Bart gets along with other dogs and people. He loves car rides, toys and balls, going for walks, and snuggling. He’s looking for a person or family that has time to continue his training and give him the love and exercise he craves. He is housebroken and knows how to sit on command. Bart bays like some hounds do, so apartments and condos with thin walls are out for this pup! He’s also an escape artist, so he either needs to be walked three times a day, or fences need to be examined for any possible holes. He is very healthy, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt Bart, fill out the application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ Once you’ve completed the application, follow up at friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to meet him. He is being fostered in Chicago.

Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Toby is a 1 and 1/2 year old ginger beagle. He is very energetic and needs lots of exercise. He would do best as the only dog. He does play with the other dogs in the house but likes to be the alpha male and on occasion has growled at the other foster dog. He likes attention. He loves his toys and treats. This handsome beagle is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and get plenty of exercise. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
My name is Lady Liberty (aka Lady). I’m almost 3 years old and weigh 24 pounds. My DNA testing shows that I’m a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/beagle mix. What does this mean? It means I’m the cutest dog ever, with the softest, silkiest fur you could ever imagine! Just look at my pictures, and you’ll see what I’m talking about! I need to let you know I had a hard life before I was rescued. My foster mom doesn’t know what I went through prior to getting picked up by animal control and put in a shelter, but she knows it must have been difficult because it has taken me several months to get comfortable with my foster family. I’m very wary around strangers, but I love getting attention from my foster family. I’m scared of children as well and will bark at them, so I will require an adult-only home that is peaceful and calm. I’m much more comfortable with women than with men, so my primary caregiver should be an adult woman, and if possible, I would prefer to live in a female-only home. To help me cope with my issues, my foster mom took me to a veterinary behavior specialist who prescribed a daily medication protocol and gave foster mom a lot of advice about helping me work through my fears and anxiety. The medications and the training tips have helped me a lot, and foster mom will share all of the great advice with my new family so they can continue to work with me. I will also need to continue taking my medications as well. I like most other dogs, and I like to chase, wrestle, and play “bitey-face” with my foster siblings. I’m submissive towards other dogs, so it’s okay by me if other dogs want to be the boss – I’m not going to argue with them! I’d love to have a canine sibling to play with in my new home, but it’s not absolutely necessary – I’d be quite happy to be an only dog and have all of the love and attention to myself! Even though I like playing with other dogs, foster mom thinks that doggie daycare would be a bad idea for me as I might get overwhelmed by all of the noise and activity. My foster home has a fenced-in yard, and I love to go outside and romp with the other dogs. Once I get past my fear, you’ll see that I have a lot of playfulness and puppy behaviors – playing keep-away with my foster mom’s socks is probably my favorite game! I enjoy playing with my toys, too, but I need to have very durable ones because I am quite the chewer! I’m hesitant to get in the car, but once I’m inside I ride very calmly and quietly as long as I can see my human. At night, I sleep either downstairs on the couch or on the dog bed next to foster mom’s bed. Sometimes I take naps in my crate, which has become my safe space. I’m housetrained and will let you know I have to go potty by going to the door. I enjoy sharing my vocal talents by barking at foster mom to tell her when it’s time to feed me (which I think should be really often), time for a treat (also often), time to go out, time to come back inside…you get the picture! I must say hello to anyone who passes by, including the neighbors, the rabbits, and even the neighborhood cats who like to tease me from outside the fence. I make an excellent alarm system! I am adorable and sweet, and even though I’m still very timid, I’ve made tremendous strides since I was rescued. I’m in search of a loving home where I can feel safe and loved and continue to become a more confident dog. If you want to be my fur-ever family, please contact Midwest BREW. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi! My name is Peppa, am 7 months old and full of energetic fun. There are a few toys I really like but mostly I like to run and play chase with the dogs at daycare. I would love a forever home with a big backyard and/or an active family to run with. My foster mom says I walk well on a leash, but y’all know no straight lines with my beagle nose to the ground. The only thing I love more than going for a walk is riding in the car… my ears flapping in the breeze. It’s glorious! I flash my big smile to all the people we pass, but don’t worry, I don’t bark too much and never get sick. As you can see by my long legs, I’m taller than the average beagle and weigh about 33 pounds. DNA tests say I’m a beagle/ boxer/ terrier mix though you won’t hear me bay the classic Arrrooo. I love everyone and get so excited when I see people that I tend to jump on them, so I will need more training with this. Foster mom has been helping me with sit, stay, and all the usual tricks. I’ll do anything for a treat and belly rub. If you think I’m the girl of your dreams, contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor or fill in your adoption application today! Story
Hi I’m Creek! I am a sweet, gentle soul of a dog and I’m looking for a home that will understand my more sensitive personality and help me become a more confident boy. My foster mom says I’m the most un-beagle, beagle…except for my LOVE of rolling in the grass on walks and the occasional counter surfing. I am not a barker and will not chase bunnies, squirrels or other little critters. I could really care less about them. I’m not a digger and not interested in climbing over fences since I don’t have a strong prey drive. I love to go on walks and am super gentle and easy on the leash. I do GREAT in a car. I’ll just settle in and hang out. I’m a pretty low-key boy. I do have fears that I’m working on and will need to continue in a patient and loving home. Loud and sudden noises and movements make me skittish. I am more comfortable around women (Hey…I’m a ladies’ man!) so would need an adult female to be my primary caretaker and if possible, would probably prefer to live in a female-only home. I do ok around more quiet, gentle type men but it takes me time to feel safe. I would do best in a home that has lower energy with no small kids running around and with someone home most of the time. I sleep in my own big dog bed next to my foster mom’s side of the bed and I am good sleeper even a bit of a snorer. I sleep so soundly at night that the next morning I do my yoga stretches (downward dog, upward dog) several times to get ready for our morning walk. I am totally game for sleeping in if that’s your thing. I won’t wake you up to feed me or walk me. I go to doggy daycare several times a week and do just fine. I’m not bothered by other dogs and will be the submissive one in the relationship. However, if I get together with another Beagle friend I LOVE to play and run around. I would really enjoy having a Beagle sibling that can help me with my confidence and be my playmate. If you are looking for a low-key pooch with a big, big heart I just might be your guy! My foster mom would be happy tell you more about my adorableness. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Apollo and his littermates were dumped in Missouri. They were saved by our Rescue Partner in the area then transported to us. They are so cute and a very lively bunch of pups. Come see them today!According to his foster family: "Apollo is a sweet, playful, spunky fella who is well on his way to housebreaking-sleeps in his crate all night and hasn't had any issues with 'number 2' inside since day 1 at our house. Apollo keeps his crate clean and likes to take all of his toys in there as well. He gets along well with our dog and is finding his confidence, often initiating play and appears unafraid of other dogs he encounters on walks. He is definitely food motivated which we have used regularly while potty training. In short, he's a lot of fun and will make a great family dog for anyone who has the time to continue loving and working with him".-------------------------------------------------------------------THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process! He enjoys taking leisurely naps, right by your side! Burger would thrive in a home where someone has a flexible schedule and ample time to spend with him. An owner who can provide companionship and lots of love will be rewarded with a loyal and devoted furry friend. Quick Stats! -- Dogs: Does well with other dogs, with slow and appropriate introductions. -- Cats: Does not currently live with cats. Will require training if joining a home with a cat. -- Children: Does well with kids but do best in a home where he is the primary focus.
