Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. Hi, my name is Ellie and I’m a five year old beagle mix. First, let me tell you all the great things about me; I’m a snuggler and love sleeping under the covers, I know a lot of commands and can be taught more because I’m super smart and very good motivated. I also get along with other friendly dogs and also with dog savvy cats. I walk like a champ with a prong collar and like car rides too. Now, I’m going to tell you about things I’m working on. I’m a barker, foster mom says it’s because I’m a hound but sometimes I wear a bark collar because I’ve decided it’s my job to let you know about anything that might be a threat, whether it’s a squirrel in the yard or just an unknown sound. I also would not do good around small kids and prefer ones ten or older that are respectful of my space. I do take anxiety medicine which helps me. I want a person/family that understand my needs and want to help me continue my training.
