Story
Joker is one of six adorable little souls were rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case in Mississippi. Found on a property with their mom (who is also available for adoption through us) and many other dogs in dire conditions, their story is one of resilience and hope. A dedicated local rescuer went above and beyond to save as many dogs as possible from that dire situation, and we are thrilled to have this lovely family in our care. Here's a link to their story on FB - be prepared - the pictures are depressing at best:https://www.facebook.com/share/ghrUMnQNEhNQazDB/?mibextid=WC7FNeThese typically sweet puppies are well-socialized with other dogs, animals, and people of all ages. Their momma, April, is a pit/beagle mix who is super gentle and sweet.Joker is doing great with housebreaking and learning commands. He is smart, eager to please, food-motivated, and well-behaved. He is happy to take long naps after a fun play session. Hard chew toys keep him occupied for good chunks of time. He is great in the crate with his sister. Joker is loving, devoted, watchful, cautious, solid, and has a big bark. He enjoys being by his fosters side and follows them in and out. He loves to be loved. This sweet boy is eager to find his forever home and bring joy to his new family. PANDA - original name - PETCO - why you ask - because she was found at a Petco and the person who had her handed her over to a rescuer in Memphis who happened to be there.Just 8-9 weeks as of 7/30, she's super new to us, but we wanted to get her listed as soon as possible because she's just so darn cute.We will keep updating her bio as she grows - she will be old enough to travel to New England in mid-August! Story
Samantha is a very happy, loving, and playful beagle with a heart of gold. She was found running loose in the country, covered in ticks and fleas—even in her eyes—but her spirit remained unbroken.Samantha absolutely adores other dogs and people. She might be a little softhearted if you raise your voice, but her gentle nature is part of what makes her so special. She loves to run and play, and when she gets excited, she lets out the cutest little hound dog bark.Samantha is great in her kennel run and, like most beagles, can be vocal at times. However, she knows when to be quiet and is very well-behaved when needed. She is kid-friendly, loves belly rubs, and is fantastic on car rides. Just a sweet little girl, Samantha is ready to bring joy and love to her forever home. Story
Are you looking for a handsome, gentle, dignified older man to add some meaning to your life? Would you like someone to accompany you on long walks and snuggle with at night in front of the TV? If you're missing these things in your life, then you have to meet BUDDY!! Buddy is a dashing senior gentleman that is still very full of life and love. He is finally figuring out what this life is all about and is thoroughly enjoying his life as a foster dog inside a home. Until recently, Buddy lived his life as an outside dog in the country in a small Mississippi town. He was content to lay on the carport or in the lush grass during the day, chase an occasional rabbit as it ran by, and receive a pat on the head from his human family as they passed by. This past spring, his human parents, an elderly couple, moved into a nursing home. Unfortunately, Buddy was left at the empty home alone. Neighbors would come by and provide food and water for Buddy, but that was the extent of his life. Buddy began to get depressed. One of our southern partners in Mississippi is a nurse at the nursing home where Buddy's family was admitted. She overheard them talking one day about Buddy being left at home, and she immediately sprung into action. She started going to visit Buddy daily and earning his trust. Finally, after a few visits, Buddy loved her. She scooped him up and brought him home, and the rest is old news. Buddy was born that day. His eyes were opened to a new life of living inside a home and having a family that loves him and spends time with him.Buddy adjusted to his new life very quickly. He gets along perfectly with all of his foster siblings, including large young dogs, small dogs, and puppies. He even loves and enjoys snuggling with the cats! His favorite spot is on his humans' bed, watching TV with them and getting all the belly rubs that he can stand. He is completely house-trained and lets you know every time he needs to go out. Buddy isn't fond of a leash, but we're working on that. He is getting acquainted with it and doesn't fear the leash anymore. Buddy doesn't like a crate, but he does go into his own room at night and quietly goes to sleep without a fuss. He enjoys car rides and long walks off the leash and stays right beside his foster mom on their walks. Buddy is ready to find his forever family. He's had a taste of the good life now, and he's decided that he wants to live inside and feel loved and valued for the rest of his life. Could you be his forever?Name: BuddyBreed: Beagle/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 8 years  (estimated)Weight: 36lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testing.  PAWS covers entire heartworm treatment to its conclusion (at one of our partner vets)Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: UnknownGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Mississippi IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
