Story
Friday (now known as “Maverick”) is a 2-year-old beagle/boxer mix. He was part of the Pups of the Week Litter featured in June of 2022. Maverick came back to Beagle Buddies when his family could no longer give him the care he needed. He is an exuberant and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. He is slender and streamlined and does not look much like a beagle. You see him and think, “That’s not a beagle at all!” …but just wait until he gets surprised, then you hear that bay! Maverick is very loving and loves to snuggle up next to you (or in your lap) on the couch. He has the best facial expressions. Maverick is currently working on manners as he doesn’t really understand personal space. His foster parents are working hard to teach him that jumping is only okay when invited to do so. He is extremely responsive to commands and to his name and he is crate trained. He doesn’t show any aggression to his foster family but is quite vocal and “talks” a lot. As you would expect in any boxer, he does use his paws a lot to communicate with you and to play. Maverick is quite slow to warm up to new people so the potential adopter will need to be patient and understand this. Maverick would do well in a home with active adults who can see to his exercise needs. Due to his current proclivity for jumping, if children are present in the home, it would be best if they were older because he is quite tall when he jumps up on his hind legs and could knock over a smaller child. Maverick is vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Friday's back story: Mama Sunday came to DFW Beagle Buddies on June 24 when she and 4 one-week old puppies were found on the side of the road in Red Oak. With a high temperature of 103 that day, we were very concerned that the babies may not make it. Thankfully, mommy and all 4 babies got the all clear from the vet and settled in at their foster home. 6 days later, animal control reached out to us to let us know that there were two more babies! While the 2 additional babies were quite a bit smaller than the other group, all did well and got a clean bill of health from the vet! Since they came over the course of a week, we namedthis group the Pups of the Week! Mama appeared to be full Beagle and the puppies appear to be Beagle/Boxer mixes. Their estimated birthday is June 17, 2022. If you'd like to meet Friday aka Maverick, please apply at www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/adopt! Story
Red is a 13 year-old neutered male. He is looking for a home where he can spend his golden years. He is a slim, good-looking, and low-maintenance guy. He does like to go for walks and will sniff for rabbits. He gets most excited when his human returns home. He will bay and will even zoom around sometimes. He is very well housetrained in his foster home. He will follow you everywhere in the house in the hope that you are going to the kitchen. He likes toys that have treats hidden in them. He is missing part of one of his ears and this may be why he doesn’t care for other dogs and would do best in a home where he is the only one. He recently had his teeth cleaned and is in good health – he is neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. He has lots of life to live as well as love and companionship to give to someone. If you’d like to meet him, please apply at  www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/adopt .  To see more photos, please visit us at: www.facebook.com/dfwbeaglebuddies   To find out more about our adoption process, fees, and fill out an application, please visit our website: www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/adopt    If you're not quite ready to adopt, please consider fostering! www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/volunteer    Can't adopt or foster?  Consider making a donation toward care and supplies for the Beagles! www.dfwbeaglebuddies.org/donate October 25, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
Artemis VI is a lovable 5-year-old female dog with a heart full of curiosity and a spirit that never wavers. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s great with other dogs, always eager to sniff and explore new friends, though she hasnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t been around cats yet. With a gentle nature and a happy attitude, sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s an easygoing companion who fits in well with her pack. Fully leash-trained, crate-trained, and potty-trained, Artemis is as well-mannered as she is sweet. She enjoys daily walks and roaming around but is just as content relaxing by your side. In fact, her love language is simpleâ&#194&#128&#194&#148being with you. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s a true shadow dog, always sticking close to her favorite people. Though she hasnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t shown much interest in toys, Artemis is highly treat-motivated and always ready for a snack. She settles into her crate easily and would thrive in just about any home, whether with an active family or a quiet companion. Despite her past hardships, she remains happy, resilient, and full of love. If you're looking for a cute, playful, and endlessly loyal friend, Artemis VI is ready to bring joy to your home! Story
Susie is a super sweet, 45-pound, one-year old, high-energy beagle/pointer mix with lots of love to give. This girl has it all...brains, beauty, and personality. She is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines. Susie is eager to learn, loyal, and wants to be with people. She's a bit shy at first, but warms up offering an abundance of kisses. Her spunky nature makes her a vocal girl that has no problem telling you she wants attention or hears the boogeyman at the door. Unfortunately, with all the recent changes after her elderly owner's stroke, she's been working through some separation anxiety issues. Luckily, she's making great progress with minimal anxious outbursts. With a little patience and love, calmer days are a given. Susie is like sunshine and happiness rolled into one! Although she is crate-trained, she prefers the freedom to run, jump, and play. Bouncing around with a furry friend or fun toys make playtime even better. With her, one good fur friend is the best. Multiple fur friends at once can be overwhelming and scare her. When in public, she remains calm and unmoved by other pups in the area. But, watch this warmhearted girl become your chief protector if she feels you're in danger. With this great big world, she's not a fan of carrides. Luckily, she does settle calmly in the floor after a short time. One important tip to know: a good, tall, wood fence is a must. She is naturally curious and will climb. Plus, her high jumps could qualify for the doggy Olympics. Susie is leash-trained and housebroken. She is primarily an inside pup with outside exercise, potty, and playtime. Being outdoors by herself presents some challenges, which are getting better, as well. During the day, it is both exciting and scary to her. Seeing her person makes her more comfortable and willing to venture out. For her, once the sun goes down, let the exploring begin! Nighttime is her favorite time to unwind, give extra kisses, and cuddle. She's good with males and females, young in age to young at heart. However, when it's zoomie-time, caution should be taken for the smallest of littles to avoid unintentional collisions. Her ideal home would be a person, couple, or family that can keep up with her vivacious spirit and zest for life. Susie knows basic commands. However, this smart girl's abilities are limitless for anyone willing to teach her. She loves hearing 'Susie is a good girl!' And, that she is. She deserves someone that can see just how incredible she is and how much love she has to give. Could that be you? Apply for Susie today to find your best girl and furever friend. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Susie, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
