Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Super SmartSmart, beautiful and confident! 9 month old Brittany will be the perfect missing piece to your family! She established herself with the other fosters right away and found her protector and her friends. This girl is something else! She joins in on a game of tug a war with the big dogs and they just move over and let her. When it's time for quiet, she prefers to snuggle into her crate. She is simply an amazing girl who will bring years of companionship to a loving family. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   =============== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Bronson is a package deal. His life long friend, Phoenix (in picture), must go with him. She is a matli-poo mix. Both dogs are trained extremely well. I originally adopted Bronson on my way out of the Marine Corps in Aug of 2012. He was just turning 1 when I adopted him (allegedly born August 25th 2011). The beagle part made him hard to manage, his nose took over any chance it had. I focused on training him over the next 6 months, and it was successful. I haven’t walked him with a leash (when allowed) for over 11 years now. He’s trained very well in that way, as well as general commands to direct him towards, away, sit or lay as a command before eating, etc. and both dogs do this well. Phoenix is a little more of the free spirit. Although she is trained well, she thinks every person and kid she sees is her friend. She will listen to not go towards them (I walk both off leash always), but her initial instinct is to walk towards them. On leash they are essentially perfect.

Story
My heart breaks to even be writing this because of how difficult of a decision it is. I rescued Nash in December of 2018 from Harris County AS while volunteering. He was labeled as a stray, very malnourished, was heartworm positive and had kennel cough. Once I brought him home, he was very shy and it took him a few months to warm up, however, over those few months I realized he had some triggers that would cause him to snap or bite (picking him up, anything to do with his feet being messed with, spanked, or if he felt threatened/or like he was going to be hurt). He is such a sweet boy 99% of the time -- does well with men and women, doesn't bother children, likes other dogs, etc., he just has triggers that have required an immense amount of adjustment over the last 6 years. He has bitten me a few times and recently bit my boyfriend who unfortunately tried to pick him up. I am unfortunately entering a place in my life where I'm no longer able to make those accommodations.

Story
Luna is about one year old. We found her roaming around and followed us home. She plays well with our two dogs. Luna is friendly to people and other dogs. Appears to be trained; knows basic commands and walks/runs well alongside. She's very affectionate and energetic. First time at a dog park, she jumped into the pool without fear, but her stroke has room for improvement. Not picky about foods, likes fruit.
