When a dog arrives as an owner surrender, we never really know what to expect. Many times we don't get all the facts and we have to learn as we go. Medically and behavior-wise, we can be surprised and not always in a good way.Rocky came to us as an owner surrender and we had some surprises - and most were GREAT surprises!Rocky is a four-year-old beagle mix, already neutered, who was surrendered because of family circumstances, not because he was doing anything wrong. The only not-great surprise was that he doesn't really appreciate certain procedures at the vet. That, we can deal with!The great surprises - well, there were several! Rocky is an absolute lovebug who adores being by your side. With his adorable face, he can charm most anything out of you!Another great surprise - Rocky is a playgroup superstar! To watch him play with our energetic Posey was pure magic! We lost count of the number of play bows he gave to Posey!And doing well in playgroup is a good thing because it helps dogs deal with the stress of being in a shelter, especially when they were previously in a home.Please help us limit Rocky's days in the shelter. Is he perfect, no, but he is darn near close! And he is worth the most fabulous family to complete his life!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Sweet Huck was a volunteer favorite at the shelter. He is 2 years old (a baby who was stuck in a rural shelter), 56lbs( is on a diet), neutered, heart worm negative, and current on vaccines. He revels in attention and knows basic commands. Huck was an owner surrender and is house and crate trained. He takes a while to warm up to some men so a slow intro with treats wins him over. Like most dogs and people, he doesn't respond to yelling or rough treatment. He loves to go for walks and would love to have a running partner to help him see the world. He would do best with older children. Huck is a fast learner and is eager to learn new cues and tricks. He is a snuggle bug according to his foster but would also like to go for a long walk or run. Because he is a typical beagle, he loves to chew so he would need someone who will work with him and take him to training class. It seems the world's in such chaos and desperation and obviously the animals are suffering greatly. This girl named Dixie has hair loss only due to the huge flea infestation that she came to a vet's office with as she was left in a crammed crate too small for her and 4 other dogs. There they sat in the heat of August and full of fleas and miserable and not able to move because they were sitting on top of each other. They had belong to an elderly woman that was going to a nursing home and her son who would cared for the dogs for a short time had obviously not done his job. He dropped them off on the front porch and left with just a little bit of an explanation on they need a home We can't keep them My mom's going into it nursing home and I can't take care of them. We're trying to take care of them as a responsible rescue group. I have taken two from the set of four and I need Foster homes for three others. What we know about these dogs is that they are sweet shy submissive kind and under the age of four. They're no larger than 26 lb or less. I just need to have foster homes it will help Critter Calvary take them in get them what they need quickly and find them good homes. They will be beauties once the hair grows back because they are already beautiful inside.
