Story
Hi there, I`m Dixie Lou! I`m young and full of life. I`m a friendly gal, always ready to greet everyone with a wagging tail. I`m gentle and mellow, preferring quiet moments of companionship. I`m also quite curious, always eager to learn new tricks. I`m smart, you see. I love playtime, it`s when my energetic side shines. But I can be a little shy at first, so please give me time to warm up. I think I would be happiest as the only pet in the house, and with no young children around. I need someone patient and understanding, who can appreciate my unique personality. Adopt me, and I promise to be your loyal companion, your confidante, and your best friend. I have so much love to give, and I`m just waiting for the right person to share it with. Will you be that person?

Story
Our sweet Murphy is the love hound - lover of all things, just not other dogs! He simply can't get enough of people - young and old, small and tall. But dogs of any size and that's a no!Murphy came to us from the same person as Winston and Ollie. Given their previous lifestyle, we can certainly understand his stance with other dogs - he has lived outside in close quarters with them and enough is enough! So bring on the people for Murphy - let him look into their eyes like he does, so that their hearts instantly melt! He is most definitely a people charmer!Murphy is 5-years-old and weighs 32 pounds. He is heartworm positive but has started his treatment and it is all covered by AAS, even once he goes home!So if you have no other pets but are looking for the perfect companion, please come meet this charming boy! Murphy will steal your heart the instant you see him! Murphy and his friends are available to meet every single day, rain or snow, from 9am-12pm!Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

THOSE EYES -- so much soul, so much love!!!!This 35-pound, 5-year-old, healthy Beagle is actually very quiet!Winston doesn't bark and bay -- he communicates with his eyes. They absolutely shine with joy when he sees a friend (and everyone is a friend!), they sparkle with glee when he sees a toy (as do ours -- there's nothing like watching Winston bounce and chase after a ball), and they fill with sorrow when we go away.Yesterday, Winston met a little girl, about three years old.He had a blast playing with her -- Winston was so gentle, and his tiny human friend just ran and laughed! When they finally tired out, they snuggled together on a pillow under a desk. That's our Winston -- ALWAYS up for hugs and snuggles! Please come meet this sweet, silly, affectionate, guy -- our Winston wants to be yours! He longs for companionship, and his eyes just light up when he gets it. Young, old, big, small -- Winston LOVES everyone! And those eyes -- you'll never have to guess how much he adores you.Winston is waiting for you at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are daily, 9am to noon -- including weekends & holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
Please help us welcome back our little love bug of a beagle, Ollie! He was adopted and returned because he wasn't a good fit with the other male dog in the home (but was fine with the female). Ollie was sweet, snuggly, never destructive or loud, and housetrained!!!Originally, Ollie was surrendered with nine other beagles by a hunter to Sussex and we are lucky enough to help find his new family. He is five-years-old and about as darling as they come!Everything is new and exciting for Ollie! When playing catch with some volunteers, he kept getting sidetracked because he would pick up a new and exciting scent on the way to fetch the ball!Ollie loves to snuggle and would love to meet YOU! He is available to meet every day from 9am-12pm - come see our snuggle bug and let him shower you with love!UPDATE: Ollie visited the vet for his intake exam and was FABULOUS! Everyone fell in love with this calm, snuggly, happy little guy. Other than an ear infection (which we're treating), Ollie is HEALTHY and ready to go home!Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
As discarded hunting dogs, life hasn’t been easy for Heidi and Chaplin, but things are finally beginning to look up! Following a lifetime of neglect, they have received some much needed TLC, and are ready for their forever home. We do believe Heidi and Chaplin to be a bonded pair, so would like to find them a wonderful home for retirement where they can live out their golden years TOGETHER. These days, relaxing and soaking up the love and pampering they deserved all along, is the only thing on their agenda. Both pups are easy going and enjoy time outdoors in a fenced yard for sniffs, as well as, indoor time for ample naps. They lived their entire lives outdoors, so we are working on house training and have already seen great progress within the first couple of weeks. In the meantime, neither minds wearing a diaper. They do not jump up on furniture and are well behaved when left alone. They do not require crates, but will go in one if needed. Since neither pup is particularly confident on stairs - Chaplin being especially unsteady on them - access to staircases should be limited in order to prevent injury. In their foster home, a baby gate does the trick. A couple steps such as with a low deck are okay. Heidi and Chaplin are both lovely, gentle souls, with sweet honey-colored eyes that will melt your heart. Both Heidi and Chaplin are believed to be approximately 10 years old. They each weigh approximately 30 lbs., are spayed/ neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Chaplin has received a clean bill of health, though he does have a permanent head tilt and the aforementioned slight unsteadiness in his gate. The veterinarian he was seen by while in the care of Homes Fur Hounds believes it is likely that a lifetime of untreated ear infections affected Chaplin’s brain and left him with some neurological issues. Provided any future infections are treated promptly, the damage is not expected to progress and Chaplin will remain a sweet, happy - albeit, slightly clumsy fella. Unfortunately, these ear infections have also left behind scarring, and given him “cauliflower ear” on his ear flaps. Now that we’ve treated his active ear infections, swelling has decreased and his ears don’t seem to bother him, but he does ask that they always be handled gently - especially when completing his required weekly cleanings. They are located in Newport News, Virginia.
