Story
Darius is a very special boy. He is a huge favorite of the shelter staff and volunteers! Darius is very affectionate, well behaved and playful. He is also gentle, social and very smart. This loving fellow gets along with other dogs and people. We do not know what he thinks of cats. So with all that he has going for him, everyone, (including Darius), cannot figure out why adopters keep passing him by. We all love Darius and would be very sad to see him leave but we want him to live his life in a home and as part of a wonderful family. Darius is about 10-11 months old and 42 pounds. Please help Darius find the loving home he deserves. Additional video of Darius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebjRk7SOK6s "D" Litter is comprised of 5 boys (Dajon, Darius, Davenport, Davinici & Dax) and 1 girl (Dandelion) ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. Story
Dajon and his 5 siblings are the product of two buddies thinking they were going to make money breeding Belgian Malinois. Mom decided the neighbor boxer mix boy was much more interesting then an arranged match. Dajon is very smart, super social and playful. He is good with other dogs but will chase a cat. His foster Mom says: "He is completely potty and crate trained. He knows sit, down and is working on stay." Dajon is about 10-11 months old and 41 pounds. Please help Dajon find the loving home he deserves. Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained,
Story
Ash is 3-year-old Belgian Malinois mix who is smart as well as loving. She sits nicely whenever the possibility of a treat comes around and also sits and waits for her meals to be served. She has even taught herself to go to the door when she has to go out. Don’t worry, if you’re not around to see it, she’ll give you a verbal warning. Ash is housebroken and kennel trained, although she prefers a treat or two when entering her kennel. Ash is super sweet and affectionate. She is quick to bond with her human and is a master cuddler and leaner. She is very curious and will want to follow you everywhere you go and watch everything you do. She is a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to meeting new people and, in true Malinois fashion, she tends to be vocal about her fear. She needs a human who will be understanding and patient with her when it comes to introducing visitors and new friends. Dog introductions should be conducted slowly as well. Ash takes a few days to warm up to her new environment but once she does, her personality shines through. She can run all day in the yard with her furry foster siblings or crash just about anywhere when it’s time to wind down. She loves any and all kinds of toys and will throw them around all by herself. She is an awesome puppy that would bring heaps of love and energy to anyone willing to adopt her. After being rescued from a Texas shelter, NorthStar discovered that Ash has a severe congenital deformity that will lead to congestive heart failure. She will need to be monitored closely for any symptoms (exercise intolerance, coughing, shortness of breath). She is currently on medication for her condition and seeking the care of a cardiologist is recommended. Unfortunately, Ash's longevity will be affected and the doctors feel that she will most likely not reach the age of 5 years. When NorthStar rescued Ash, we never expected that she would have such a short life but we are determined to make what time she has left the best we can. Ash is looking for a very special adopter who will love this sweet girl and give her the care she needs for the rest of her life. If Ash's story has touched your heart and you would like to give this girl a loving home, please fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org & be sure to ask for ASH TX. August 19, 2024, 1:22 pm

Story
Dora will need some work with socialization and training. She has spent the first 10 months of her life with her single owner and siblings, and needs to learn how to be a family dog. There is a sweetheart just waiting to come out, all she needs is your love and ALOT of training. These are smart, driven dogs who do well with a job - agility, dock diving, barn hunt, hiking, obedience. Someone with dog experience who understands what gems the Malinois is. All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl. Initial contact with us must be made through e-mail. E-mail ARFofMercer@gmail.com directly for an adoption application or with any questions. Once your adoption application is approved, you will be invited to meet our dogs/puppies.

Story
Baby is a true diamond in the rough. She will need a lot of work and patience - at 11 months old, she has never before been away from the house she was born in and her littermates. The world is terrifying, but she is calm and watchful and takes it all in. Once she has her person to trust, she will be a true Velcro Dog - never leaving your side, the best adventure companion you could ever ask for. She would climb a tree for you - and also jump on the dining room table and eat your sofa if you don't spend the time teaching her manners and giving her a job to keep her engaged. Story
Twinkle toes is a four month old super smart girl. This beautiful girl was bred to do police K9 work but is better suited to be a pet dog because she doesn’t have the crazy drive needed. However, she still needs a family who can give her lots of time, attention, training, and exercise. Twinkle toes got her name because her overzealous mother while cleaning her accidentally bit off a couple of her toes when she was only a day or two old. This doesn’t affect her in anyway, just gives her a story to tell. All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations.
