Story
This little gem is a medical special needs pup. Sasha is a very sweet and easy going 3 year old Bichon mix; she is about 11 pounds. She loves all people and dogs and enamors everyone she meets. She walks well on leash, sleeps through the night in her crate, and does relatively well with her alone time. She has an adorable way of getting one's attention and loves to play with other dogs. Unfortunately Sasha was most likely hit by a car at some point and her spine is broken in her lower back. She has full use of all her legs, but she's completely incontinent. Her foster assists her to empty her bladder 3-4 times per day (easy to do, and a potential adopter could be taught to do it). If she is assisted to empty her bladder, her diaper stays dry and her fur stays clean. Due to her condition, Sasha is prone to UTIs, but helping her to empty her bladder regularly decreases this potential. Luckily she doesn't show any signs of pain and has a full life expectancy. Sasha will need to live with someone who is home most of the time. She'd probably do best in a home with a yard, so she doesn't always have to be in a diaper, but she would also be an easy dog for an apartment dweller as she doesn't necessarily have to be walked first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Since Sasha is "non-shedding, she will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Sasha is $200. If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/   . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. We will consider applicants outside the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area for Sasha, as long as applicant is able to travel to Oakland for meet and greet, and pick up. House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Skipper  is happy and full of life. He loves to be active on hikes, walks, playing with toys, and running around in the backyard. He can also slow down and cuddle on the couch with you.   We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress.  He is stubborn, so training is key. Skipper would do best in an adult-only home. Energy Level?  Medium to High House trained?  Yes, 100%. He had never had an accident in the house. He routinely potties  about 15ish minutes after each meal. Describe how they are on leash?   Skipper  LOVES his walks. He does tend to pull, but we are working on it. Describe how they are with other dogs? Skipper would love to be the only dog in the home. Once Skipper is thoughtfully paired with the right dog and they play styles match, Skipper loves to play. Skipper's high energy play, can be much for some lower energy dogs. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  He has not been introduced to cats. Commands they know?  Sit What are their favorite things?  Toys, cuddles, walks, wrestling with their human  What do they need to work on?  Polite dog behavior and walking without pulling. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Skipper is left two -three times a week and he stays in an xpen for about 6 hours. He whines for a few minutes then sleeps most of the time and is mostly quiet. Where do they sleep?  In his xpen or crate What is their ideal home?  Skipper would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise. Ideally, he’d be the only dog, and he excels in an environment with clear structure and routine. We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress.  Skipper would do best in an adult-only home. Our Adoption fee is $325.   For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs , please complete our online application:   www.everypetsdream.org/adopt  and  we will have everything we need to know to call you back and set up an appointment.  Follow us:  Facebook  and  Instagram . Story
Ethan, a chill Lhasa Apso, is the guy who, stumbling out of the house with bedhead to grab a breakfast burrito before surfing, is discovered by a model scout and winds up on the cover of GQ, destined to be the next Spiderman. Our easygoing snaggletooth has emerged from a tough time in a coat of wild white floof and some temporary baldness, and yet he’s clearly a gentle heartthrob about to star in a forever home filled with cuteness, hijinks, and unconditional love. Likes dogs, gets around like a champ, will never say no to a treat or a snuggle. Adopt him for an easygoing bestie; update us on his journey to fame and fortune. Here are some notes from his foster: Ethan came from a pretty rough situation but has made huge improvements in the past few weeks- I couldn't be more proud of him! He has so much confidence now that he's feeling better-- he loves hanging out with other dogs, has a huge appetite, enjoys going on walks, adventures in the car, loves cuddles and really really loves having a routine! His skin was a big issue when he came in- he had a skin infection that was hot and inflamed, huge patches of matted fur all over his body- he was feeling pretty painful, and didn't want to be handled, understandably. After a little bit of trust Ethan let me cut the matts off and from then on he slowly started to become a whole new dog. Like a lot of our dogs, Ethan's daily routine gives him a huge sense of safety. An example--Ethan knows after his morning potty time comes breakfast and he will patiently and proudly wait by his bowl, once he's finished eating, he goes into the living room to get cozy on the couch and take a morning nap.. etc. He's figuring out how to be a dog with the help of my resident dogs/ other pups from Muttville and it's been an amazing experience watching him thrive. He has such a goofy little personality, and cutest little face, with his tiny little underbite--you can't help but smile when he's around. Ethan's forever home should include lots of love, patience, TLC, positive reinforcement, and the ability to keep him to a routine-- All of your hard work will be rewarded with the never ending amount of love, trust and companionship Ethan has to give in return.

Story
Meet Necktie, the most dapper gentleman in town! This sweet boy is always chilling, taking life one belly rub at a time. He’s got a heart full of love and a nose that always knows where the treats are! Necktie is the perfect mix of friendly and easygoing, he gets along just fine with other dogs and absolutely adores his human friends. Whether he’s lounging by your side or following you around for snacks, he’s just happy to be part of the fun! Looking for a lovable, treat-motivated best friend? Necktie is ready to tie himself to your heart forever! Here's some notes from his foster: Necktie is such a sweet, happy, good boy. I can't say enough good things about him. The first thing you need to know about Necktie is that this guy loves to eat! Necktie is basically a 2 in 1 Hoover/floor cleaning system. Not a single crumb will escape Necktie in his quest to give you sparkling clean floors (and maybe coffee tables too, watch out!) Necktie can hold his potty overnight. He loves short walks. Sniffing is his favorite and he likes to stick close right beside you. He doesn’t have issues being left alone so I think he would be fine napping at home if you had a typical 9-5 schedule. He is a very quiet dog and we have hardy heard a peep out of him. He is most happy to curl up with you on the couch and snuggle. Necktie does have both visual and hearing impairment. He can only see and hear a little bit, but I can tell that this does not stop him at all. Necktie is very smart and had our whole apartment mapped out in no time. He remembers where we put all the dog stairs to get onto the couch and bed. He even tries (and fails) to chase our cat. Necktie navigates the world with his other senses, and he is plenty confident to run and jump around once he knows his surroundings. He will also do stairs as long and you guide him the first few times. Necktie is a very sweet cuddly boy who deserves to live the good life after his time as a stray. So many families out there would be lucky to have him!

Story
Macie is a sweet, silly girl who is about 5-8 years old and 15.5 pounds.  She loves her foster mom’s dogs and is sweet to her cat. She was closed down and ill when we pulled her from the shelter. Every day her personality is blooming a bit more. She is a real homebody and will walk around the block, but would rather stay home and hang out.  She is vaccinated, chipped and spayed and has had a recent dental. Macie is a special needs dog. She needs to take medication morning and evening for her heart murmur and arthritis. She also has ointment for dry eye. Macie was a stray so we don't know how she got to this state, whether an accident or genetics, but she readily takes her meds in pill pockets and she is a wonderful companion. Her medications and  supplements cost about $100 per month and she is a dog that will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Macie is $300. If you are interested in adopting Macie, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ .
