Life in a shelter is not for me, and I dream of finding a caring home where I will be loved forever. I like making friends with other dogs, but I'm the quiet one and you'll see me before you hear me. I'm an easy-going pup, and I believe in spreading love and friendliness around. I don't ask for much, just a warm bed, regular meals and a family who'll love me back. If you're looking for a loyal friend who'll always be there for you, then I'm your guy. Adopt me and let's make some beautiful memories together!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. ** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. No time to come to the shelter? Meet me virtually during our open hours, note that wait time may vary for virtual meet and greets and we require same day pick up if you decide to adopt: https://waitwhile.com/locations/hra-nyawelcomestatio/r/welcome Well, Howdy Y'all! Cowboy here and I'm riding into town and hopefully directly into your home and heart. I'm a ruggedly handsome pup with a flair for leaping with joy and having a good time! Yee-YA! But really, I was a lost buckaroo and am grateful some local folks found me. All the cowpoke's here (now that would be the good workers at HRA) have said that I am a silly, goofy dog and seems everyone likes to say, "I LOVE you!" a lot around here. So why don't you gallop on down to HRA and let's hitch her up! Let's ride off into the sunset together. Giddy up!Check out Cowboy's video! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B-s2b210owQ

Story
I'm in a FOSTER HOME! If you'd like to schedule a time to meet with me, please email my foster parent at jessica.vesey@gmail.comBurrito is the sweetest, gentle snuggle bug, with the cutest personality. She's great with people and other dogs and comfortable in a crate. She's been thriving in her short-term foster home, where she loves playing with the resident dog and is a great leash walker.Black mouth cur dogs are known to be handsome and I am no exception with my tan coat and then my gentle black face. And did you see that tiny white spot on my nose?On the inside I'm filled with fun and love for my new people, with energy for good walks and play with other pups. I was found as a stray here in DC and a nice person made sure I got to the shelter. Initially I was a bit nervous at the shelter, but over time I learned that I could trust the nice people there. Treats and having another dog around to help me overcome my fear really helped! So, if you have some time and patience and an open heart for a cute pup like me, we can start our new life together today. I'll be sure to fill it with many good things!

Story
I'm in a foster home! To learn more or adopt me, email my foster parent at rumi.rainbow.foster@gmail.com. You can also see more of me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rumirainbowfoster.DYK? Dakota is a Native American name and means "friend" or "ally." And yes, this is what I want to be - your friend and ally, your BFF, your pal, your best bud -- now and forever! I was found as a stray and was a bit in rough shape, but I'm not letting that get me down and am just loving all the people I've been meeting at the shelter, and now in my foster home. At four years old, I'm over the puppy craziness, but still young and beautiful. I'm very sweet and affectionate and a great cuddler. I'm a black mouth cur who are known to be excellent companions (which is probably how I got my name "Dakota"). If you're looking for a loyal and sweet companion who will love you from the depths of her heart every day, you may have just found her and I'd recommend you apply to adopt me now!
