Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Willard is a 5-year-old Walker Hound mix that weighs 52 pounds. When Willard came to Lil Rascals almost one year ago, he was paralyzed in his back legs, had infected sores and wounds, an untreated UTI, and was emaciated, weighing less than 40 lbs. His owners at the time said he had sudden onset paralysis 5 months prior, took him to UF where surgery was performed on his spine. The surgery did not help him, so his owners rightfully began taking him to rehab. But they soon abandoned rehab for him because they no longer had the time and he sadly reverted to where he was. Lil Rascals got him back into rehab right away, where he had to start all over with therapy, this time weekly. He has not only gained strength, muscle mass and mobility, but he has also gotten joy back in his life. He now has a cart which has given him mobility again. He is a sweet boy that always wants to be near his person. He loves taking naps under the desk while his foster moms work. He lets you know when he has to go out with a distinct vocal bark. He is incontinent and has accidents so he wears a belly band. His favorite thing is going outside with his “wheels!”  He can go anywhere in his wheels and loves to go on walks and even runs sometimes. He attempts to bear weight on his back legs but he can not use them to walk. Willard enjoys car rides and meeting new people. He’s been around multiple cats and both small and medium-sized dogs and gets along great with them. He’s always ready to eat and takes daily probiotics. He enjoys busy bones like yak chews and bully sticks. He currently takes medication but the vet has been decreasing those. He loves hugs and attention but is also content to lie on his bed beside you and nap. Willard needs a family who will love and spoil him but be sympathetic to his special needs. He will need to continue to attend weekly rehab therapy so he doesn’t decline, but he is definitely making progress. He needs a home without a pool or stairs, and a home where someone can be home with him most of the time. If you think you can give this special boy a special home, please complete Willard's app and tell us more about your family. August 19, 2024, 5:24 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. About Training Camp:Pet Rescue By Judy has teamed up with an incredible program called the  Greyhound Advancement Center  which will allow some of our dogs to attend a ten-week prison training program. The program originally started to help retired racing greyhounds learn how to “dog”.Greyhound racing is now illegal in our state, but the program worked so well that they decided to open up to other rescues and accept different breeds. Each dog is teamed up with an inmate who is in their dog training program. This program allows inmates to gain an important skill that they can bring with them when they are released. The head trainers are the best of the best and we are sure that these dogs are going to come out of this program with all kinds of tricks up their little doggy sleeves. (Don’t worry, the dogs are treated very well and are the apple of their trainer’s eye ).Our dogs are so blessed to be able to learn important obedience training to help with their confidence and make them awesome additions to a family. We can not thank Greyhound Advancement Center enough for giving these dogs a leg up on getting into their forever home!******************************************************************** Wallace was surrendered to PRBJ because his family said he was not doing well with one of the kids. He is a sweet boy, but he is a little nervous, so we are recommending him in an adult only home or with older teens.  Like many Hounds, Wallace does not like loud noises and things like balloons, vacuum, sirens and fireworks. He does bark at cats outside, but does not try to chase them. This is pretty much the only time he barks...he is not really much of a barking hound. Wallace is potty trained and does well in a crate. He is friendly, but can be just a little nervous when meeting new people, so give him a minute to figure you out:   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 1:44 pm
