Story
Blaze is a handsome 2-year-old border collie mix with heterochromia eyes, one blue and one brown. True to his breed, he is ultra smart, curious and attentive.  Border collies are a working breed, so Blaze will need a family who is active, engaged and will put him to "work" to keep his mind and body occupied.  Blaze tested positive for Heartworm, and was treated before coming to Town and Country Animal Rescue.   Once he is released by the vet to return to full activity, he would love to learn agility, go on daily walks and join the family for outdoor adventures such as camping and hiking.  Blaze has a very sweet personality, craves human contact and is known to be quite the cuddler. Blaze is dog friendly and will be joining our doggie playgroups once he's fully recovered.  Blaze has a new lease on life and so much to offer his forever family.  Apply to come out and see Blaze in action! The adoption fee is 350 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.   Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.   ***** If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2241974##

Story
Gail is a smart and eager to please beagle mix who is blossoming into a truly wonderful dog. Gail was severely under socialized during her first months of life and had no understanding of how to exist with people. While in rescue she has learned all about how to be a part of a home, and now her foster mom is helping her to learn how to exist stress free outside of the house so that she can enjoy going on adventures with her future forever family. She is potty trained (with the rare exception of excited peeing), kennel trained and walks well on a leash when hiking on local trails.  Her ideal forever family will be an adult only home that has at least one other dog that likes to play. She is open to kids in her family’s future but would like to get to know her parents first. She is looking for a home with a fully fenced yard. Gail is not great at first introductions so we would like to find an adopter who is open to meeting her a couple of times before diving into forever with Gail. We promise she is worth the time investment.  Gail is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated.  Gail is a year old and 35lbs.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.December 14, 2024, 4:02 pm

Story
Koda is a loving and energetic 3yr old collie Shepherd mix. He was couped up in a laundry room for months before landing in our care. He snuggles well, exceptional with verbal commands, and does not beg at the table. He struggles with barking and he does not chase cats, but I do not believe he is a fan. Great with kids 9+, but has shown territorial tendencies with younger kids. He currently needs to be let out often, but I believe this is a transitional behavior. He would love a fenced in yard with a doggy door.

Story
Hey all, this is Archer. He is a 3 year old purebread Border Collie, great with our kids and other dog. We also have a Cat, and while Archer has never been aggressive of any kind, he has a strong herding instinct and will follow the cat around the house. We're looking to find him a new home for a few reasons, primarily we want our cat to be able to relax in the house more and not be followed so much, but we also want Archer to have a more active lifestyle. Ideally we could find him a home that has some wide outdoor space so he could run and play, and if he was given a job to do he would love it. We want to find Archer a great home with a more active lifestyle for him, so if you have any questions please let us know.

Story
I have had my dog Ellie since May of 2020, She was born in December of 2018. I potty trained her, crate trained her, taught her how to use the stairs, taught her commands, such as come, sit, down, shake, and she has an amazing recall for her name. She is 100% Border Collie (I have her papers) and is not spayed. She is up to date with all vaccinations. She is full grown and 35lbs, I think she was the runt of the litter! Ultimately, I am making the decision to rehome her because I do not think that she gets the amount of attention and care that she deserves. She needs to be in a home with someone experienced with dogs with anxiety. She gets along with dogs when I take her to the dog park, but would much rather sit next to me then play with the dogs. She has always been the sweetest dog to me and a very small selection of people. She is not destructive at all. She will “steal” stuffed animals or socks etc. and put them in her bed, but does not chew them up, like she is “collecting” things

Story
River has lots of puppy energy and is looking for a forever home with a family who has lots of time to play with her and keep her busy.  She is a 10 month old Border Collie, born February 2024.  She is potty trained, crate trained and is happy to be around other dogs, cats, strangers and children.  She is still learning what's okay or not okay to chew and might dig a few holes outside when she gets bored, so she'll need someone who's patient and willing to keep her training going.  She's already learned to follow commands such as sit, lay down, shake and is ready to learn more.   River would love to be in a home with kids to play with.  And if you're on a farm, she would be a great help herding livestock!   The suggested adoption donation for River is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   Alter Agreement: If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital or Omaha Animal Medical Group in Omaha, at no cost to you. Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost. If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, the adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice. If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.   ##2253338##

Story
Mila is a beautiful, 10 1/2 yr old, tan & white cattle dog mix looking for her forever home. She had some bad luck with her last adoption from us.  We got a call from a shelter in Wisconsin that she was found tied to a pole. A wonderful volunteer from that shelter flew her to Iowa in his personal plane where one of our dedicated volunteers met him to pick her up and bring her back home.  She is playful and loves people of all kinds. Mila walks well on a leash, loves to play fetch and does a good job of keeping herself occupied. She's a sweet, fun girl and would love to live out the rest of her life with someone who loves her. Mila cannot be around other dogs so she needs to be the only pet in the home. Can you give Mila the life she so deserves.  For more information, email us at tchsPapillion@gmail.com or visit https://townandcountryhumanesociety.org/adopt The adoption fee is $200 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Story
Danni is a 3 yr, 9mth old Cattle dog mix who is training to play ball for the major leagues one day. Her preferred pawrent would throw a ball for her all day long.  Her foster dad is encouraging her to expand her horizons and she is now enjoying long walks, squeeky toys, butt scratches, belly rubs and cuddles on the couch and bed.  She has mastered basic commands like "sit" and will now "wait" before eating her meal or exiting.  They are working on "paw", "lay" and "stay".  She appears to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home.  Danni had some past resource guarding tendencies so she should not go to a home with smaller kids.  She does tend to startle with loud noises and requires reassurance to settle down and relax in the car.  She does not seem to like other dogs but if her foster dad has her engaged in a game of fetch she is able to ignore the neighbor's dog barking at her. While Danni may be a bit anxious at first, she connects deeply with humans who show her compassion, patience, attention and have a good arm! Apply to meet Danni and she may do her spin excited dance for you! The adoption fee is $350 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. The adoption fee helps cover the cost of these vetting procedures. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an application.   After you have submitted an application and have been approved, we will setup a “meet and greet” between you and the pet. Applications are reviewed in order of receipt.  If everything goes well during the meet and greet, you can take the puppy home the same day.   Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission. ##950059##
