Story
We got Savannah from the local Humane Society in May 2023. Beautiful, timid, protective. She is slow to warm up to new people. She needs a gentle patient human who can take the time to develop a bond. She is NOT the type who instantly trusts and loves everyone she sees. Warms up faster indoors. Savannah is 65 lb. I estimate 2-3 years old. I think she is at or near her full size, but she still has the puppy-clumsy-paws. When she sleeps on my bed she rolls off in the night--hilarious, but also startling. Sadly, one of my other dogs started biting Savannah. Savannah eventually retaliated. I think Savannah would do well in home with or without other dogs, just not this one dog. I can give much more detail about this. She has been a very rewarding addition to our family. And I wish we could keep her ourselves. We got her to protect sheep. She barks well. But she is afraid of the sheep. w/ cats - curious and timid, not yet aggressive. w/ kids - gentle, tho clumsy.

Story
Say hello to Gunnar!Gunnar is thought to be a Border Collie mix. He is about 3 years old. He did come from a home with another dog his size, but he would need to go to a home with no small animals or toy breed dogs. He needs some patience and guidance from an understanding owner. Gunnar is heartworm positive, but don`t let that scare you! HATS- Helping Animals to Survive, is willing to donate towards Gunnar`s treatment. If you use their recommended vet, their donation covers the entire treatment!

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: See below. Reason for being in rescue: Beaux originally came to CPR in 2015 as an owner surrender. He was adopted by a loving family. Unfortunately, Beaux became aggressive toward a small dog in the home and he was returned to CPR in June 2018. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted Weight: Est 48 lbs (he's a little chunky) Height: Est 24" at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Beaux would prefer a home with experienced owners of his breed and temperament. Currently, he is living with several other same size and bigger dogs as he doesn't like little dogs that represent prey. Beaux prefers proper dog on dog introductions to help him get used to his new friends. He would rather make human friends than dog friends because he knows people will play ball with him.  Beaux's new family will need to understand that as a working breed, Beaux needs and wants a job to do. He is not a couch potato! A big fenced in yard with plenty of open space to run and often hikes would be just right. Beaux does not want to run alone, he wants to be with his people and/or in his safe place - his crate.   What is my personality like? Beaux is a gorgeous brown and white border collie. He is incredibly friendly to people and thinks they are wonderful. Beaux does have a lot of anxiety in him, anxiety that will temper but not completely alleviate once he is in his new home.  He does have mild separation anxiety because he wants to be with his people as much as possible.  Beaux is so smart, he can actually open doors when the mood strikes him! He enjoys being loved on and running around. He is very mellow in his crate, but Beaux needs space where he can be free to run and enjoy life. He plays fetch and is not aggressive at all when you take the ball back from him. He just wants to be with you. He lets you know when he is ready to rest by nosing the door to go back in. Beaux loves to be outside and loves going on hikes with his caregivers. Big fenced yards give him plenty of space to run off energy. Beaux is medium energy, depending on what is going on around him. Beaux is not food or crate aggressive to people he knows. A new person needs introduced before they can take the bowl out. A new person becomes a BFF in just a few hours. Simply spend some time with him and you will earn his trust.  He is a toy hoarder and he loves anything that squeaks. He also absolutely loves to be groomed and gets so exciting on bath and brush days. He is very clean in his crate! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 9/19/2011.  Be prepared for a lot of people to tell you what a stunning, beautiful dog you have.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. August 20, 2024, 1:03 pm

Story
Please contact foster at amykdong@gmail.comSweet Miss Laila is a bundle of sweetness. This sweet pup has endured trauma, but it doesn’t stop her from being the biggest love bug! According to a concerned citizen, Laila’s owner fell ill and Laila escaped through an open gate. She was found a stray on the streets of Charlotte. While fending for herself, she became pregnant on the streets. She was almost full term when she was spayed and her babies terminated. After her surgery, Laila experienced a seizure in her kennel. She was found unresponsive on the cold, hard kennel floor. She came to and seemed fine. Laila was soon taken into foster care. Her first foster only had her for a short time, but it was there that she bonded with a stuffed squirrel. Laila took that squirrel everywhere and groomed it like the puppies she had lost. Soon after, she was moved to a second foster. After a month, she was unable to stay in that home. I am her third foster. Sweet Laila has blossomed in our home. She is perfectly house trained, can be left out (no crate needed!), loves kids, dog friendly, and literally the best snuggle bug ever. Laila loves to be around her person. She will sleep on the bed with you or in a dog bed next to your bed. She will patiently wait for you while you are out and about and is always excited to see you when you come home! She now has a Baby Dino that she grooms and takes everywhere. She is a true mama pup at heart. Laila would love a furever home. She is the sweetest pup who truly just wants to be loved. Miss Laila is also a girls’ girl and would prefer to be adopted by a female or a family. •House trained•Can be left out at home alone•Dog Friendly•Kid friendly•Loves her walks•Walks well on leash•Likes to chase chipmunks, squirrels and bunnies•Best Snuggler•4 yo•45 lbs
