Story
Meet Cher: Cher is estimated to be about a 16 week old (as of March 9, 2025) border collie / mountain cur mix (best guess) that weighs about 11 pounds. Cher was dumped with her buddy Sonny on someone’s porch in Ashland, MS. The property owner took the pups in to get them safe, but wasn’t able to keep them so reached out to Charlie’s Crusaders to help find them great homes. Cher is currently being fostered in the Elizabethtown, PA area and would love to meet her forever family. Cher is a super sweet, friendly, tail wagging puppy that loves to be held and pet! As a puppy, Cher will need some patience while she works on her house training. We would love for Cher to have a fenced in yard to run and play freely. Cher is up to date on her shots and will be spayed when age appropriate. If you are interested in giving this little one a happy home, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. CURRENT LOCATION: Foster home in Elizabethtown, PA 17022 Kennel License #17584 ##2282373##

Story
I adopted Max from a rescue in 2016. He was almost 2 years old at the time. He's always been a very smart, loyal and healthy dog. He's over 10 years old now but still enjoys long walks and has never had an real health issues. Over the years though he became very protective of me and more recently my wife. His trainer calls it "resource guarding". He gets along great with people, kids and other dogs, as long as I am not around to protect. On walks he will react to other dogs and people if they get too close. Just barking, never biting. He also gets aggressive around smaller children. Which make it very difficult for my wife and I to start our family. We don't think it would be safe for a baby if Max was in the home. We are looking for experienced dog owners who know how to care for a healthy, but older dog. I think he would do fine with older kids and possibly another dog if they were introduced beforehand. I don't think he would do well with cats, or smaller children. Thanks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Hi, I’m EDDIE and guess what, I woke up this cute! I have puppy dog eyes that make your heart melt. True to my Border Collie breed, I love good times and adventures. I am incredibly smart and eager to learn. You show me something once and mission accomplished, I’m already a pro. I’m gorgeous, smart, and such a fast mover that I could be recruited for the Westminster Dog Show. I am a showstopper, sporty boy, but I also always get recognized for my full-on sweetness and friendly disposition. I have a positive mind, but kennel life is lonely. My heart hurts for love in my life. Please come meet me and I know you will love me too. I am ready to get settled into my new home. I am sure we will both be saying to each other, “Where have you been all my life, who rescued who?”” That’s right together, you and me forever! I am only 1-year-old and boatloads of fun. To meet me, EDDIE, please email Adoptions@LaManchaAnimalRescue.org. For an application: https://www.lamanchaanimalrescue.org/adoptadog *********************** 1 year old.
