Story
Meet MJ! He is a 9yr old beagle/terrier mix. He was found as a stray in KY and ended up in a kill shelter...until we rescued him. He seems to get along with every other dog we have (incl puppies of all ages). He walks well on a leash once he gets over the excitement of being out with you. At only about 40 lbs, he is the perfect sized companion dog. MJ is very smart too and learned to sit for a treat & give his paw within 5mins. His aim is to please :) We find that he doesn't like to be without people in general but that's not to say that he likes all people and is definately picky about who he trusts. The ideal home would have someone around rather than leaving him for the workday and would have some dog training knowledge about how to handle a fear aggressive dog. We can no longer bring him to adoption events since many in the general public do not know how to read a dog's body language (he does give signs when he's uncomfortable). We would recommend a low-traffic household for sure because of the potential fear aggressive bite and someone with experience in dealing with this behavior. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records.  All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed.  Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so.  Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!!Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days.  Details are on our site under the "How to Adopt" tab. Hope to see you there!August 17, 2024, 12:06 am

Story
NOTE:  If you are seeing this posting, she's still available :) Meet Trixie!  We were told she was born on 1/11/22.  Her mom looked to be a boston terrier mix. Trix is tipping the scales at 25lbs and is lean because she's always on the go given her age. Trixie is a very sweet girl, who just needs some basic training.  Her fosterhome has a fenced yard and since she has had minimal leash training, that works best at the moment.  She needs routine & some manners to be the perfect family pet.  Trix is up to date on all of her vaccines, is spayed and was tested for HW and tick borne diseases - all were neg.  She has the shiniest sleek black coat we've ever seen on a pup before!  She's very treat motivated and when it comes to taking commands, she's all ears LOL  Her friends are a group of adult dogs as well as a couple of young shepherd mixes that are double her size also with us.  Trixie's favorite game is fetch & she actually brings the ball back to you! Recent small breed experience is a must since they're just not for everyone & definitely not for the 1st time dog owner.  This girl would NOT do well in a city environment, so we're seeking a more rural home since that's all she knows.  If you have the time and patience to train a pup, please visit our site at endingthesadness.org & fill out an application to be considered.  Adopters must be no more than 2hrs driving distance from us.  Only older children in the home, please.August 17, 2024, 12:06 am

Story
Everyone loves a Boston Terrier and so do we!  This girl is not one of those well bred BT's but one of those that needs the most help!  Our girl is called Jettie and She is a 22 pound,  9 year old mostly black female Boston Terrier girl that is healthy and happy and looking for a home.  Feisty and confident like most Bostons, this girl has alot of spunk, and alternatively really enjoys napping by your feet. Her story is that her owner died and the owner’s son took her to live with him. It was not he happy time and situation for Jettie.  This innocent and lost little girl was put at that time, and only 17 pounds, in the back yard with his Pit Bulls.  HORRORS!!!!!   OF COURSE things went wrong and based on the fact that animal control was called, she was surrendered with so many wounds on her body, neck and tail. Despite the nightmare, she is still loving and trusting and just wanting to BELONG.  This girl has been in foster care for the past month and the wounds are healed on the outside but emotionally she is constantly looking over her shoulder to see if she needs to protect herself. Can you help Jettie?  She is not a shrinking violet and out of survival instinct, a girl who will be appreciative for whatever is done for her.  Since she has always been 'defending' herself, we are asking for an ONLY DOG HOME for her.   We don't want her to always be looking over her shoulder at another dog coming to hurt her.  I think she learned to growl and act like an alpha to thwart the constant aggression she was living with. Because of that, I feel that she has earned the right to belong to a living family who has no other dogs…She respects the cat and dogs in the foster home because they show her no malice, but on  occasion she will growl and posture if she feels threatened. If you can handle that tension for while till it subsides then fine....but it is there.  She is a loving dog who longs for walks, cuddles and the love of a human(s) in a safe and loving environment!  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
Chantilly, or Tilly for short, is a ton of love, personality, and snuggles with a hint of diva all rolled into a compact 32 lbs of gorgeous brindle and white!! We call her Silly Tilly!! She is nearly perfect! She has impeccable manners! At 6 years old she is mature enough to know the ropes! Completely housebroken, fine left alone uncrated for several hours, no inappropriate chewing, listens well and takes treats gently. Her energy level is perfect. Mostly chill but will play with toys and have the zoomies in the yard once or twice a day. She even has a few commands in her repertoire including "sit", "shake", "spin" and "speak"! She likes a shower too! She walked right into the stand up shower with her foster Mom so she got a shower with some lovely human shampoo since her foster Mom wasn't prepared for this! She was comfortable and easy-going from the start in her foster home and took to the house routine almost immediately. This girl will acclimate and bond SUPER QUICK with her new lucky family! She was dumped at a crowded rural shelter in April. Her family simply stated they could no longer care for her. The shelter was getting VERY over crowded like all shelters across the U.S. these days so Rogers' took her in to get her off "the list". It is a sad state our shelters are facing these days. There are just so many dogs being dumped so we are glad you are here, reading about Tilly, because that means you want to help this situation and ADOPT!! Tilly is one of the best behaved fosters her foster family has ever had and they have fostered alot of dogs. Tilly's new family must have one thing. Her new family needs to have a southern facing backyard so she can do what she loves to do best. SUN BATHE! (ok any direction backyard will actually do :). If competitive sunbathing was a thing, Tilly would win GOLD! Tilly is fine with other dogs. She was kenneled at the shelter with two and there are 2 resident dogs in her foster home. She enjoys the company of people over dogs but co-exists lovely with other dogs in the home. She loves to be where you are but not annoyingly so, loves a sturdy lap to enjoy pets if you let her, and will just snuggle up next you and be happy watching you do what you do! Need a home office buddy? A movie watching friend? An instant guest at backyard BBQs? Tilly is your gal. Tilly's breed is likely Boston Terrier with something else mixed in ... a bulldog perhaps? Maybe even Beagle? Only a DNA test will tell us for sure but she is sooooo adorable and has the cutest mug with her underbite!! You have to meet this gal to really appreciate how easy it is to love her! Wouldn't it be fun to have a DNA reveal party for this gal?? At this point you may be thinking ... "this gal sounds too perfect. what is the catch?". Well there is one catch. Tilly has a bum back left knee. It doesn't appear to cause her much pain and she gets around just fine, holding her leg up at times. We are in the process of getting her evaluated and so far it appears she will need orthopedic knee surgery. We are open to having her adoptive home take her and get the surgery done either with the vet she is going to now or their own vet and the rescue will pay for the surgery. We are also open to a family stepping up for her but having the surgery and recuperating while still in foster care and then being adopted to her family. Either way, Tilly gets the care she needs. Rogers' Rescues always commits to getting the care needed for all our dogs regardless of their issue. Want to spend the rest of your days with a silly, fun loving gal that will make you laugh and feel unconditionally loved all day? Apply for Tilly now. This funny little gremlin is truly one of a kind!!   If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our application. Meetings will not be scheduled without an application. Please visit our website www.rogersrescues.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Story
Who’s a Boston Terrier’s favorite baseball team? The Red Sox, of course! That’s what Odie told us anyway. Meet Odie, the adorable 1 year old Boston Terrier who is ready for you to take him out to the ballgame! Odie was surrendered by his owners and doesn’t quite understand why anyone wouldn’t want to keep him. He is absolutely the sweetest boy around. Odie is fully grown at 14 pounds is so eager to please. He does very well on a leash. This friendly little guy is just hopeful that his next family will be his forever family. Odie would do well in a home with kids or other small dogs. He’s the kindest little guy with the biggest heart, and he simply longs to be loved the way he loves in return. For now, he will spend his days watching sports and dreaming of a home that will keep him and love him forever. Odie is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application.
