Story
Ladies and gents, meet Sarge! Laying on the couch and taking a dip in the pool are some of his favorite activities, but he won't turn down a walk or a run or a toy he can play with! Sarge is around a year old and a Boxer mix.  He weighs about 45 lbs. he is fully housebroken and does great if he needs to be left alone. He can be shy so if you can be patient, he WILL be your best cuddle buddy friend.  Starfish will include training classes with A Sound Beginning in his adoption fee so that he and his family are sure to get off on the right foot!   The adoption fee of $200 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. Meet Muffin! She is a deliciously sweet boxer mix girl who is looking for her FURever home. Muffin is around a year old and about 40 lbs. The first thing about Muffin that makes you fall for her is the way she looks at you and the color of her eyes. Muffin would be a great addition to any family that has someone that can be home with her most of the day or works from home.  She can get anxious when not by her humans, but Starfish is committed to helping her new family with training support so that Muffin knows she is always safe. She is a wonderful dog. She has never had any accidents in the house. She is great on walks. She listens and learned how to sit almost immediately. She is very playful and aims to please. Muffin learned to play fetch and loves it. She enjoys activity, but will also lay with you and relax. Story
Say hello to Enzo! This 2 year old terrier mix came to us from a rescue partner and is ready to find his forever home! He does great with other dogs and cats and has lots of love to give a lucky family! The NAWS Dog Adoption Program operates as a rescue versus a shelter. We believe in matching the right dog with the appropriate family based on each specific dog and family’s needs. To achieve this, we believe in spending the appropriate amount of time with each family to allow for enough interaction time with potential adopters. This cannot be achieved if people stop by unexpectedly to meet our dogs. Please submit an application at www.NawsUS.org under the Pet Adoption tab to set up and day and time to meet with one of our adoption counselors and our potential adoptees. Thank you!

Story
Ladybug is a two year old Pittie mix that is looking for a special place to call her own. She came to JTAC as a scared stray a few weeks ago and has started her journey of coming out of her shell and showing her true personality. Ladybug had zero confidence when she first arrived but with the help of staff and volunteers, she has gained more and more each day. Ladybug is looking for a quiet home to settle in that will give her the chance to continue her confidence journey. We are unsure what her past was like but we know that Ladybug is full of love to give and wants to share it. On her walks, she looks to you for guidance and will sit her paw out for you to hold her paw. She knows sit, down, and shake. She loves treats and little rewards like food toppers or bacon snacks wins her over. She walks great on a leash. She is looking for a quiet home with no young children (8+ years) or other animals as she is still adjusting and quick movements can startled her. She does better with male dogs her size but at this time she is still learning how to interact so a home without pets is best as she settles in. She is hoping someone will give her a chance to show her true colors. Her adoption fee is $160, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay.

Story
Meet Asiago, a three year old Pittie that was found in a local business's parking lot by a citizen. The finder brought her in and Asiago put up such a mask as she was scared so she pretended like she was big and tough. The following day, she still had her ruse going until one of our vet techs approached her run and could tell it was all show. Once she took her out of her run, Asiago melted and wanted to show everyone her silly personality. Asiago was in dire need of a bath as she was stained from filth and was quite smelly. (Her tech/best friend called her 'stinky cheese' to earn her butt wiggles and kisses so Asiago sounded much better for a name). Asiago does well with other dogs her size but no cats or small dogs as she thinks they are toys, not friends. We aren't sure what Asiago's past life was like or how she ended up where she was found, but she's ready to leave it all behind and have a fresh start. Her adoption fee is $235, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay

Story
Archie is such a special little guy in so many ways that we aren’t sure that writing this bio will do him justice, but we sure are going to try! Archie was found as a skinny stray at six weeks old. At animal control it was quickly discovered that he had a vision impairment, and was clumsy and wobbly on his feet. The Animal Control veterinarian wasn’t quite sure what condition he had specifically, but knew something neurological was going on. When our team met him, and saw how spirited, loving, and happy he was despite his challenges, she knew that WISH had to help him and get him into a foster home. We didn’t know what was going on with him exactly, but we were committed to finding out as much as we could with the help of our veterinary team. Archie has seen our regular veterinarian, as well as an eye specialist. Despite some subtle facial deformities (that somehow just add to his cuteness), and his vision impairment, Archie is a fairly normal developing puppy. It is suspected that he may have cerebellar hypoplasia (which causes him to have a wobbly gait), that has improved as he has grown and gained more muscle (as is typical with cerebellar hypoplasia). If he does have cerebellar hypoplasia, he is pretty steady compared to other dogs and cats with the condition! He can run, jump, and play! In fact, he loves to play so much with other dogs that we are hopeful to find him a home with another playful dog to wrestle around with and play. Although we learned that Archie is blind, you’ll swear that he can see! He is able to quickly map out his surroundings and navigates them well. And if he gets confused, he lets out these little whimpers and cries almost like he is calling mom for help. We happen to find it so darn adorable! Archie is also able to follow sound, which is helpful when he is playing in the yard or can’t see you, but knows you are there. For Archie’s safety we think a home with no stairs or minimal stairs, and a fenced yard would be best. Archie is an incredibly friendly pup who really thinks everyone and everything wants to be his friend. Strangers? Yup! Kids? No doubt! Dogs? You betcha! He’s just a happy, go lucky guy. Which is pretty amazing considering the adversity he has experienced. He romps around with favorite toys, and likes to play chase like any other puppy. He loves a good nap, and is a world class snuggler. He quickly forms attachments with things he uses regularly like his crate, dog bed, and preferred toys, and thrives on routine. This is a skill that can take some dog owners months to train a puppy. But not Archie! He is calm in his crate, and quietly sleeps through the night. He is happy to find his favorite dog bed and take a nap, and is even doing well with housebreaking. Archie comes to find us when he has to go potty, but like any other puppy his age, he will still need support in this area. Archie’s breeds are a mystery to us, but given the area he came from, and his personality, we think it is likely that he is a pitbull or pitbull mix. Regardless of that we do know that he is 100% cute. Our vet thinks he will grow to be about 60 lbs. Archie is a really special boy looking for that special person or special family to share his life with. Every person that meets Archie falls in love with him. He’s got something about him where you just can’t resist his charms. Archie needs a home where he can safely explore and be afforded the opportunity to be his absolutely lovable self. Special needs dogs make outstanding companions and Archie is ready for the challenge.
