Story
Bodie (also known as Brownie) is a 1-year-old Boxer/Pittie mix with a zest for life and a heart full of love! Weighing around 40 pounds, this energetic pup is always ready for action and still has plenty of playful puppy energy to burn. He absolutely loves running around in the yard, playing with his toys, and making new canine friends. Bodie thrives in the company of other dogs and has become quite the social butterfly at Hounds Town, never failing to get the whole room moving with his infectious enthusiasm. Because of his high-energy nature, Bodie would do best in a home with kids 10 and older who can keep up with his playful spirit. A home without cats is preferred. If you're looking for a fun-loving, active companion who will bring excitement and joy into your life, Bodie is the perfect pup for you! Apply today to meet this lovable goofball!   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $200 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 5, 2025, 6:33 pm

Story
Chance is full of energy and love. He adores children and makes an excellent family dog. He needs an active family and since my divorce I just cant provide him the time he deserves. Chance is perfectly healthy but he does have flank alopecia which has caused him to lose hair on his sides in two small spots. Because he isn’t bothered by it we havent sought remedies other than trying fish oil and melatonin to no avail. He is absolutely not good with other dogs. If you have other dogs, I will not rehome him with you. He had a terrible experience as a puppy and we’ve never been able to get him passed it. In true boxer fashion, he still acts like a puppy most days. He’s very well behaved and notifies us anytime someone comes near the house, otherwise no barking.

Story
“Alright, listen, I didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder.” My name is Rider, as in Flynn Rider. No one can resist my smolder, so I plan to use that to find my new home. I am a 2 year old Boxer mix. Like Flynn Rider I am an orphan that had to do what I needed to survive. I am a bit rough around the edges, but with a bit of love I am working on that. I have had a bit of a rough start. I came into Rover Rescue with a knee injury. While waiting for surgery I ended up injuring my other knee. I have now under gone 2 surgeries to fix my knees. I am still recovering and have exercises I will need to do, plus activity restrictions for the next several months. Once I am all healed I should be good to go. And boy am I ready to go. I am going to need someone who is dog savvy. I can be very pig headed. I need someone who is going to remind what is right and wrong. But the good news is that I come with training classes to help. I have made great improvements during my time with Rover Rescue. It is recommended that I go to an adult only home. I am a medium energy dog. I do love to get out and go for walks. I do tend to pull on the leash, especially if I see something. Foster mom uses a gentle leader on me that works well. I can’t wait until I am healed and can explore more. I also love car rides so would make the perfect adventure buddy. I love running around the back yard when I don’t have these stupid leash restrictions. After I have been able to get out some of my energy I am happy snuggling and watching tv. I love to be on the couch, but right now foster mom says I have to lay on the floor because I can’t jump. Foster mom also recommends me earning my right to be invited up on the couch in my new home. I also love to play with my toys while my people are watching tv. Fetch and tug are my favorites! I get along with the two smaller dogs in the house, but can get crabby with other dogs when at adoption events. If there are other dogs in the house I will need slow introductions and would do best with a submissive friend. It would be best if I am in a house without cats or other small animals. I am crate trained and will go in for treats. I am not a fan of being left alone though so may sing you a song when you leave. I do quiet down eventually and do fine while foster mom is away. Right now I have to sleep downstairs and get very sad when the rest of my family is upstairs. Sometimes I sing my song at night or early in the morning. I would probably not be a good apartment dog. While Flynn Rider’s goal was to live on an island alone surrounded by enormous piles of money, mine is to find a person or people of my own. I am looking for someone to give me a chance that understands my quirks. Even though I need work foster mom thinks I will be an amazing friend when all is said and done. Let’s go chase some lanterns! If you would like to meet him, please call Annie at 815-685-0746. His adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Story
Hi, I’m Abel! I’m a tall, 2 year old boxer mix. Some of my favorite hobbies include taking long naps on the couch, being pet, and watching out for squirrels on walks. Even though I’m big, I love being a lap dog and sitting next to (or on top of) my foster family on the couch. I am crate trained, but I also do really well unsupervised out of my crate. I’ve been left out of my crate overnight and had no issue. I’m a good boy on walks, but I do like to try to investigate squirrels and bunnies when I see them and I want to meet every human and dog that I encounter.  I’ve been around three other dogs while at my foster home and behaved well with all of them! I am also neutered and up to date on all my shots. My foster family always tells me that I’m such a good boy and I’m looking for someone to do the same! If you would like to meet me, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. My adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive

Meet Ruffles, a 10-month-old mixed breed with a heart as big as his underbite (seriously, it’s spectacular—his lips sometimes get stuck on his "teef" in the most adorable way).  Ruffles might be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s stuck to you like glue—a true Velcro dog. He loves to run like the wind, play outside, and explore, but at the end of the day, he just wants to be your snack-loving, adventure-having bestie.  Come meet Ruffles at 600 S River St, Aurora, IL 60506—no appointment necessary! Call 630-256-3630 for more info. But be warned: once you meet him, you’ll never want to let him go! March 4, 2025, 10:21 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Everyone who has ever met Tony always talks about how sweet and great he is.  So we can't even begin to figure out why he hasn't found his home yet.  This poor boy went through so much as a baby, he and his siblings and mother were dumped on the side of the road by someone's farm and a sister and his mother were hit by a car and didn't make it.  Luckily he and his brother and sister were okay and they were taken in by the family.  He is a very shy guy as first with strangers, he is timid and needs someone to help him build more confidence.  Another dog would be great to help him with this and he absolutely LOVES other dogs.  He is also amazing with kids and doesn't seem to be interested at all with cats.  We have no idea what kind of dog he is, he has an adorable underbite, and brindle fur.  His siblings looked like boxers so we assume there is boxer in his, and he definitely has some hound as well.  Probably lab too...We would love it if someone did a DNA test on him.  He has been living with a trainer (not because he needed one but she offered to foster him for us) so he has amazing manners already.  Crate trained, leash trained, housebroken, knows all his basic commands.  He does so well at adoption events, sitting nicely and hanging out.  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.  We are guessing he is around 50lbs now and probably won't get much bigger.  This guy deserves the best home ever, he has waited so paitiently. His adoption fee is $600 To adopt Tony fill out an application at https://www.kakf.org/forms/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 8, 2025, 9:56 pm

Story
**dog is not off leash, photo editing used to focus on this beautiful boy** Meet Lenyn, affectionately called Lenny by our kennel staff. Lenyn is reportedly a 1.5 year old Pit/Bully mix who was brought to us as an owner surrender after a short adoption from Chicago Animal Care and Control. He was not a good fit for their household. Lenyn is a BIG (80 lbs ish) active boy who is in need of a strong owner, and he needs training and routine (like any of our available dogs) to make him the best boy he can be. Lenyn cannot go to a home with cats, or small children (16 years of age and up, please) due to his excitability and mouthiness in combination with his size (and prey drive with cats). He is extremely mouthy at times and very playful. He may do fine with other larger dogs who can match his playful energy but this would be determined on a case by case basis by meet and greet. Lenyn is housetrained and reportedly did well in the home even when not crated if left alone (but we do recommend crating until proven trustworthy in a new home). Lenyn really needs work with leash walking but is very trainable and food motivated, and knows commands "sit" and "down" already. Lenyn AKA Lenny would like to leave ASAP to an adoptive home or rescue! Prior to coming here he was very kennel stressed at CACC and given his excitability we want him out of the kennel environment ASAP. His adoption fee is $150, he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov or stop by during our open business hours to meet our resident "sour patch kid".

Story
Meet Dahlia! Dahlia arrived at the shelter as a stray and was not reclaimed by an owner. We think she is about 3 years old and is a Pit (mix?) female. Dahlia has proven to be a lovely girl with humans here at the shelter, but needs a home without other animals. She keeps her kennel nice and clean here so we believe she is housetrained. She also does not shred toys or blankets. Dahlia is pretty much the cutest thing we have ever seen, so enjoy the photos of her having a blast in our outdoor yards and enjoying the weather today. Her adoption fee is $150 and she will be spayed before leaving the shelter, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov or stop by the shelter during our open business hours to meet her!
