Story
I'm in a foster home! To adopt me, email my foster parent at torrelavelle@gmail.com.The Marvelous Mrs. Marla pranced out of the shelter into her foster home with a stuffed animal in her mouth, and since then she's been collecting more friends everywhere she goes, from the neighborhood kids who love to pet her to her foster family who keep adding to her nickname collection ("Mellow, magnificent, magnanimous Marla...") Although she arrived at the shelter as a hungry stray suffering from pressure sores, she has been making an amazing recovery and is more than ready for a proper, loving family to take her home. Marla is a gorgeous blonde/buff doggie with a charming tail wag and fantastic personality. Housetrained, fun, wiggly, and eager to please--she is so easy to fall in love with. She is friendly towards dogs and small children and is a fast learner, close to mastering such basic commands as "sit," "stay," and "down." Best of all, she is just as happy to cuddle next to you on the couch as she is to venture out for a walk or entertain herself with a toy or two. Ready for a social, happy doggie to join your household? She would love to go home with you soon.

I am a young, playful soul always ready for a game of fetch or a brisk walk. I am also pretty smart, as I am quick to learn new tricks, and eager to please. I am a bit dominant around other dogs but I am working hard on some additional socialization so I understand how to behave around other doggies. By the way, besides people, I am also cat-friendly. My fun-loving spirit is infectious and I'm sure to bring joy to any home. Will you be the lucky one to welcome Lollie into your home?Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Gibbs has spent most of his young life in an Alabama shelter, but now he's ready to find a family of his own. This sweet boy is as gentle as they come. Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Male, 2-3 yrs old, 64 lbs Personality: goofy/funny, eager-to-please, adaptable, affectionate, outgoing, good running partner, energetic, smart, playful, snuggler, rambunctious, adventurous, and brave. Dusty is a big cuddle bug who loves people and is extremely curious about new places, people, and things. An overgrown lap dog, Dusty will also happily sit between your legs as you give him pets. Dusty loves to play tug of war or chase his favorite toys. He'll play fetch for as long as you are willing to throw! He has lived comfortably in a home with large and small dogs and tested well with cats at the shelter. An eager to please dog who has quickly adjusted to city life and apartment living, Dusty is also a fast learner. (It helps when you have his favorite treats on you - hot dogs and string cheese!) He already knows the words "sit, "leave, and "paw and is working on "1, 2, 3 for walks. His foster is working on crate training to make sure Dusty feels like the crate is a safe space. Dusty is energetic and is looking for someone to take him on long walks. He excels in eating his meals from enrichment puzzles, which help to calm his active brain! Once he's had his exercise and playtime, he happily curls up on the couch for a snooze. Because Dusty still thinks he's a puppy and is learning that jumping on new friends isn't the way to go, he would do best in a home without very young children. If Dusty sounds like the one for you, apply today! __________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
