Story
Luke and his sister came into Ruff Love Rescue as a bonded pair.  They came to us after their previous owner encountered medical issues that left her unable to continue to care for them.  Luke and his sister Lizzie didn't care too much for other dogs, but they loved one another and were devoted to one another. Unfortunately, in April of 2024, Lizzie's health deteriorated significantly and she died, leaving Luke alone, without his sister.  He is, as you can imagine, a little lost without his sister. He doesn't like it when another dog gets in his face, so to be safe, it would be best if he were an only dog. Luke's vet estimated year of birth is 2011.   Luke is such a sweet dog.  He would make a great companion, especially to someone who can provide a warm room with a soft bed and a loving touch.  Luke is house trained. He's a sweet older gentleman who would love a home.  Could you make sure the rest of his life is the best of his life?  ~~ Adoption donation $150. All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and altered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Visit www.ruffloverescue.com to make this pup a member of your familyNovember 5, 2024, 5:56 pm

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 23 months old. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. Story
Meet Moose! This handsome middle-aged gentleman we believe is a Boxer Lab Pit mix. Moose weighs about 60 pounds but would gladly put on a few extra unneeded pounds if given the chance! Moose AKA Grandpa has a few things he would like to share with everyone: “Hello There! My name is Moose, and my favorite things in the world are food, naps, and relaxing with my humans. Did I mention food? Foster Mom says I’m working hard on learning house rules since I didn’t have many before. I’m figuring out how to play with toys and enjoy the company of my five fur siblings. While I’m a bit socially awkward when it comes to playtime, I love being their biggest fan and cheering them on! I think every new person I meet is my BFF. I’m polite, though—I wait patiently for them to come to me and hopefully offer a treat! Here’s what makes me extra special: I meet new dogs appropriately. I’m amazing in my crate and house-trained. I won’t drag you down the street on a leash. I’m great with other dogs and gentle with kids, including Foster Mom’s 6-month-old daughter. Oh, and I snore like your favorite Grandpa!” If Moose sounds like the right fit for your home, please reach out! He’s ready to be your new best friend and bring some chill vibes to your life. So far my foster mom has learned that every new person is my BFF. Although I love people, I won't drag you over to meet someone new I will patiently wait until they come over to say HELLO and pray they have a snack for me! I meet new dogs appropriately, I'm amazing in the crate, house trained, and I won't pull you down the street. I'm extremely treat motivated, good with other dogs, and a perfect gentleman with Foster Mom's 6-month old daughter. I know I sound perfect so far because I am and I'd love to tell you more about myself when you inquire about me! Also if you have gotten to the end of my speech I want to thank you and let you know that my nickname is Grandpa because I can fall asleep anywhere, in any position, and start snoring in an instant like your typical Grandpa. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Story
Our family has had Bella since she was 6 weeks old she was born March 6th. She's now 2 years old, very affectionate, excitable, loving, and enjoys attention. She loves cuddles and to play. Bella knows all her basic commands, crate trained, and potty trained. She needs a family that is able to handle an energetic dog and time for her. She's great with kids. She enjoys walks. She will brighten anyone's day once you come around her. She is a member of the family and will fit right in with yours. Because of our busy work schedules and growing family its difficult to give Bella the love and attention she needs as a boxer. We want her to be in a home where she feels happy and loved.
