Story
Lua / Female / 1 year old / 35 lbs / Boxer Mix / No dogs please / Good with cats / Good with older children / From Mexico / Fostered in Oakville Meet Lua! Lua came to us from Mexico, where she lived in a vacant lot with no roof or shelter. She gave birth to a litter of four puppies while tied up to the fence of the lot. Our wonderful partners in Mexico cut the chain she was tied to and took the mama and her puppies to safety. Lua is one of these puppies, rescued from a life of neglect and ready to find a loving home. Lua is a sweet girl with the most expressive eyes. Her fosters describe her as affectionate, curious and playful. Lua adores her people and is always ready to snuggle. She even believes she is tiny and will make herself fit on your lap, no matter how awkwardly she has to lay. Lua would love nothing more than to be in a home where she can be showered with love and attention. Lua is best friends with her trusted humans. She will stay close by and can be protective in nature. With new people Lua prefers to assess, sniff and take time. Once she feels comfortable she will shower them with the same love and affections. Lua is a bit more nervous around men, and is working with her fosters to learn that they can be safe too. Lua has met older children and done well. She could live in a home with respectful, dog-savvy children. With patience, decompression time and support Lua will show her loving nature to her humans. Lua is looking for a home in a quieter neighbourhood. City sounds and passing cars are new to her and make her feel nervous. A home with a yard where she can play would be ideal, but as long as she has access to greenspace she will do well. Lua is the type of dog that will thrive wherever her humans are, as she loves to be part of the pack. Lua is currently looking for a home where she is the only dog. She has had positive interactions with other dogs in the past, but can be defensive when sharing her space. Lua will set boundaries for herself and does not seem bothered by other dogs she passes on walks. With proper introductions Lua would enjoy socializing outside of her home. Lua currently lives with a cat and does well. She has shown both curiosity towards the cat and respect for the cats boundaries. As a young girl, Lua will require lots of outlets for her energy. She currently gets two walks each day. Lua is doing well on leash so far. She loves to sniff and explore as she goes. Lua will stop when a car goes by, and tends to avoid other people, but she is gaining more confidence each day. Lua is very good at looking to her trusted humans for reassurance while on walks. Indoors, Lua enjoys enrichment activities and is learning the joy of playing with toys. Lua is making great progress with her basic training. She enjoys learning and making her humans proud, so working with her is great! Lua is crate trained, spending time in one when she is home alone, and overnight. She is housetrained, but her new family should be prepared for a transition period and possible accidents. Life indoors is new for Lua, but she is learning her house manners fairly quickly. Lua prefers to be where her people are, but will settle in adjacent rooms to nap, or chew a toy. Lua is a sweet girl with the biggest heart, waiting to find her forever family that is ready to give her the time and attention to learn how to be the best companion. Lady | Female | 6 Years | Boxer Mix | 52.4 lbs | Spayed | Good with Dogs, Kids Meet Lady, the sweetest soul you’ll ever encounter! This charming girl is the definition of gentle and loving. Despite her past challenges, Lady’s heart is full of warmth, and her affectionate nature shines with everyone she meets. She’s wonderfully polite, naturally obedient, and would make the perfect addition to any family. Lady is amazing with children and other dogs, bringing a calm yet playful energy that lights up any room. One of her adorable quirks? She does a gentle “cobbing” nibble, a puppy-like behavior that shows how safe and happy she feels—just one of the many ways she expresses her love. Lady is also a belly rub enthusiast, often rolling over with a big smile, inviting anyone nearby to give her some belly rubs! She enjoys toys, often tossing them in the air and delighting in playtime. Lady is fantastic on walks; she starts with a little excitement but soon settles in, happy to walk by your side. This lovely lady has also developed quite an appetite and is sporting a healthy, slightly “plump” look these days—she’s earned every ounce of happiness and love! Ready to adopt Lady? She’s a sweetheart who’s sure to bring endless joy, affection, and companionship into your life.

Story
Roxy | Boxer mix | 6 years old | Toronto area Meet Roxy, aka Meatball. (She answers to both LOL). Roxy's life wasn't an easy one. She's now getting used to being in a stable home environment, living with a foster. She's done well with the various dogs that come and go in her current foster home. Whiles she's now used to life with dogs, she still needs a slower introduction so she feels comfortable. Cats aren't her first choice, but she's been temporarily fostered with cats and has done fine. Due to her rough start in life she deserves a home that can accommodate her needs, but please don't be put off by them as they're nothing onerous. She's the sweetest girl, and will make a lovely addition to a home. Roxy is best suited to a quieter home. She LOOOOVES stuffies and watching the world go by through a window. She's the kind of girl who enjoys walks and being outdoors but also really enjoys a comfy dog bed. She's not a high energy girl and is happy to chill. Due to her past we feel it's best to place Roxy in a home that is adults-only, although she has lived very successfully with kids. We feel this would make for the easiest transition for her, and quite frankly this girl deserves a life with less potential stressors. Her life has been pretty disruptive to date. Roxy does not feel comfortable walking on laminate floors, but in her current home there are runners down and she finds that very acceptable. Roxy is housetrained, walks well on leash (although she can be inclined to pull), is very healthy and is spayed and vaccinated.
