Story
Donald came to the shelter as a stray and was very nervous and preferred to hide in his kennel where he felt safe. He has opened up to the staff now and is a gentle giant. Donald loves food and loves having his trusted person around to help him feel safe and encourage his curiosity. Once he feels comfortable, he loves to give hugs and thinks he's lap dog size. He'll also show off and get the zoomies for you around the yard but then come right back for pets and snuggles. Donald takes treats gently and will drop his toys for you - he loves to carry around stuffed animals. Donald prefers another dog who is calm that he can coexist with since high energy dogs make him nervous. This shy guy would gladly give all his love to you for a handful of treats. Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. (http://neenahanimalshelter.org/how-to-adopt.html)- Our shelter no longer has open visiting hours, so a pre-approved application and scheduled appointment is needed prior to meeting any of our animals

Story
As we highlight our Nervous Nelly puppies today, we can't forget Paisley! Paisley came from the same situation as Kyra back in November. Like Kyra and Hola, Paisley has been very slow and hesitant to trust people but absolutely loves other dogs. Paisley on the other hand, does seem to be taking a few extra steps in the right direction so far but that doesn't mean we're out of the weeds yet. Very recently Paisley has started following the other dogs into the fenced portion of the yard, and doing great at doing her business while out there! That's not to say we still don't have our share of accidents indoors. But, it has been a massive improvement. Paisley even looks and starts to come inside when foster mom calls for her and her friends. The key is Though, do not stand next to the door when she wants in. Avert your eyes and pay no mind or she'll run the other way! Our new favorite pastime is snuggles on the couch. Her massive milestone was not only no longer running away if foster mom came to sit down too. But, now Paisley will hop up on the couch when her foster is already sitting down! Once she even sees the other dogs getting extra attention, Paisley slowly wiggles her way closer hoping for loving too. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Just don't make it too obvious. She's more nervous than a teenager on a first date. Paisley will gladly take treats and seems to forget she's a scary cat, if you're enjoying a snack to yourself by her. Her daily enjoyment comes from antagonizing the crabby dogs here. The louder and grumpier they yell, the better! Like the others, Paisley will need a very very patient and understanding home. A fenced yard will be needed as she will not move an inch on a leash yet. You might as well tie off to a boat anchor. &#226&#154&#147&#239&#184&#143 adoption fee 400.00 August 19, 2024, 9:38 am

Story
Meet Lue, a spirited one-year-old boxer and terrier mix with giant, adorable ears! This sweet and independent pup isn't much of a snuggler, but he'll lay alongside you, content with your company. Lue is curious around new people and warms quickly. He's done well with teenagers and earned the nickname "Lue the kangaroo" due to a little hop in his step from an old injury, which doesn't slow him down at all. Lue is detailing his house training and crate training, though he needs a bit of encouragement to go into his crate. He walks well on a leash and knows some basic commands, making him a great companion for strolls. Lue is happy to chill out and relax but is also playful, energetic, and a total toy-lover-he especially loves his Kongs and stuffed toys. He is playful with other dogs. Lue would thrive in an active home where he can join in on the fun. If you're ready for a playful, fun-loving dog who will keep you entertained, apply now to make Lue part of your family!

Story
Hello! Barnabas here! I am a handsome, 80# pit mix, with a heart full of love. I'm told I look rather distinguished with all the silver hair in my coat. I have pearly white teeth, so no one knows for sure how old I am. A man of mystery! I love being with people, especially children. I'm friendly with other dogs, unless they are high energy, dominant males. I am also very gentle when taking treats and not at all possessive about my food or toys. My foster mom says I'm an AMAZING walking partner! Once I get to know you, I even have a silly, playful side. I hope my adopter likes going on long walks with me! If you'd like to meet me, please contact The Hope Highway.

Story
Saylor: 4 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She is a medium sized dog with a big smile. She is a playful girl. She enjoys playing with toys and other dogs. As much as she loves to play with other dogs, Saylor wants all the attention for herself and would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home. She shows a little bit of resource guarding towards people with other dogs. It is manageable and she does respond well to corrections. If you have other pets and are interested in her, just keep that in mind and be willing to continue working with her. Saylor loves kids of all ages. She’s fixed, utd on shots, crate trained, and house broken.
